those brotherhoods in general are declining.

My theory? They were a place where vets of WWII could talk with people who had a shared experience... as they passed away, so did that shared experience.

Lions, Elk, Moose, VFW... all in decline...

Now, in some towns, they are actually doing ok. One reason being, they are the last place you can smoke indoors! Remember, private club... In other towns, especially small towns, these clubs can be the only social outlet; beyond church that is.

If they come back, and I mean, REALLY come back, it's because the hipsters think it's trendy to be like their grandparents... otherwise, they are going to fade into the same spot of memory where the coon skin cap resides.

There was a group like that around here... had this fabulous building over in Hermosa Beach. They sold it because of a lack of membership.

Axelly, those are 67's.

I've no idea on the Shriner's thing.

Sidenote: The "S" on the VIN tag under the glovebox denotes that the body was built in St. Louis. An "A" indicates it's an A.O.Smith body.

Any car that originally came with sidepipes had an "S" body.

A car with an "A" and sidepipes (like mine) did not come from the factory that way.

But I'm keeping the sidepipes, can't drive a car that doesn't sound like a Corvette.

Mostly the big cities are seeing the decline.
My theory, populations centers lack the moral fiber to maintain group participation and fellowship. Harsh? Yes. Small towns have kept the American Dream and friendships alive and well. Point? Drive around any big city and wave at the next car or pedestrian. I'll bet they either didn't pay attention, didn't understand why anyone would wave let alone smile or make eye contact, or your "creeping them out". Try the same thing in a small town and they will smile or wave back. Most of the time. But if your bald or grey they're just creeped out

Yep WW2 vets are almost gone. But a whole new group of vets are back filling the ranks. Slowly but its happening again.

You really need to get out of LA....
