AROUND HERE IT'S HARD TO FIND A RANGE TO 300 YD. MY CLUB ONLY GOES TO 300.

I'VE BEEN TEMPTED BY .50 CALS BUT I'D HAVE TO DRIVE TO WESTERN OK TO SHOOT IT :-0 THERE'S ALSO A SLIGHT $$$ FACTOR.

If I had the equipment I could shoot at 800 yards. I didn't say I would hit anything, just that I could shoot at something 800 yards away

I have always wanted to... it sounds like a real challenge.

I do have some old Moisen-Nagant Russian infantry rifles that would do it... the new stocks they make for them are super trick. 7.62x54 rimed.

That is a good shot Wayne....what were you shooting with?

I almost bought a Shilo Quigley 1874 Sharps reproduction rifle awhile back.... .45-70 $3K..... Would love to have it and find a place to shoot it. One of my favorite movies of all time.

The same rifle in a .50-90 configuration was what Billy Dixon killed and Indian with at 1538 yards at Adobe Walls Battle in 1874.

Modern testing of the Sharps rifle in the same calibar when mounted in a gun carrier and tracked with radar fired a 675 grain bullet 3600 yards down range......oh yeah....very cool!

Where are you?

Spent lots of days at 600-1000 yard lines at the Sac Valley & Coalinga ranges.
Mostly competition with iron sights.
Remington 40x & AR15 223 at 100-600 (PacNor & Wilson)
Winchester pre 64 Palma 308 800-1000 (Kriger)

Eyes are starting to fade and the floaters make iron sights impossible at times

100 YARDS ON A RUNNING SKUNK? I'D CALL THAT PRETTY GOOD.

I'm out in Northwest Indiana. There are a few 1K ranges around and our department does a decent job at getting us on 600 yards ranges.

At that distance though it's not that much fun anymore. For me 800+ is working.

I don't even pull out the .50 anymore let alone my .338

The .300 and .308 get most of the work
