Past several years I've been using HR Taxcut, but i just realized that as a State Farm customer, I get to use Turbotax for free. Anyone use Turbotax vs. Taxcut? Which do you prefer?

I used both, but maybe three or four years ago, and a couple years previous. I can't really remember much of a difference. But since I have my own side business now, I pay an accountant to help me out.

If one is free, go for it.

Both are quite simular. I use "taxCut" home and business. I've used both.
Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

In case anyone was wondering, yeah you can do it on paper for free, but if you do it online you'll get your tax return back much sooner.

I usually check it first to see how much I'm getting, if it's big I pay to do it online.

File your W-4 correctly though and you'll get more money on every paycheck instead of letting the feds hold your money all year. That's why my return this year will probably be $200.

Use both, e-file with both, then let us know the results. I can pm you my phone number so you can dial it when you are allowed to make your one phone call.

I have used TurboTax premier home and business the last 5 years or so. I have been very pleased with it. However, for 2007 I am using a CPA because of my business like said above. Even though, TurboTax is great, there is still room for errors and for my own piece of mind, I am going CPA.

My wife and I use Taxslayer every year. Nominal fee to electronically file and have it direct deposited. Usually less than two weeks for the refund. After paying child support for 16 years I have learned to adjust the W4 so my return was only $50 or less and is still that way, used to really irritate my ex.
