ha made you look anyways i am laying under my car changing out both y pipes, main cat, and mufflers....4 of the damn collector bolts are frozen, so it looks like i am going to have to snap them off. for the last 2 days i have been douching them with PB blaster, no joy. so i have been searching ebay for a reasonably priced set of manifolds that are in nice shape. i went to the exotic muscle website and noticed that they have the ceramic hooker long tubes with smog and the y pipe for a livable price. now the only mods i really planned on doing under the hood was a set of 1.6 roller rockers. do you think i will get any real benefit from these headers or should i just drill and replace my studs? does anybody have any experience with these headers? man do those sound like newbe questions or what?

Headers on an L98, along with other exhaust mods, are good for some pretty substantial power gains. Some people say 20-30 hp. I know my hookers and true dual exhaust made a noticeable power difference but I have no before and after dyno numbers to say how much.

ESPECIALLY with a near stock engine and for a driver, you will see a much greater performance increase with headers that have 1 5/8" primary tubes, over those 1 3/4" Hookers. There are several outfits that offer them. The most economical are Hedman Hedders. Unless you are rock bottom on funds, it would pay to spring for their Elite line of headers with the thicker flanges, tubing, and ceramic coating, rather than the bargain basement specials. Try these ones, I was always curious if they were worth a damn. i just sent that seller this email: I saw your auction on ebay for the C4 competition headers and was wondering about your street version. Do they have the O2 sensor port and the a.i.r. fittings and the egr flange? What about a forward Y pipe to hook up to my stock size (3inch inlet) Random Tech converter? I tried to use google to find your website, but was unable to. Thanks, chris adkins |

They have no Y pipe, they have O2 bungs, they don't have smog hookups.
Pretty typical really. The front Y is something to save for the exhaust shop. |

Hookers will fit. Their matching front Y will not clear your auto trans' pan.

I would get EGR... The benefits of EGR are much greater than any perceived disadvantage.
