Ok, so recently i washed my 1988 corvette because it was nasty dirty. Well washing it I also sprayed the gas cap area down with high pressure water. I did not think anything of it till the other day i started it up to move it, well when i reved it up it would backfire at like 3000-3500 rpm's. Could this be because I got water in the gas tank and if so how big of problem could I be facing here.

Well i doubt it, but if you think thats an issue then drain the tank and refill it with new fuel.

Ive hosed in there every time i wash the car and havent had that issue yet!!

Optical triger system in the distributor on the 92-96 LT1 and LT4.

Despite the rumours, washing the engine wont hurt it either as long as youre smart about it, cause mine is still going strong.

Like Case said, I doubt if you got water in the tank but a cheap cure would be to put a couple bottles of Heet in the tank, it will help get rid of the water if there is any.
