its not about my corvette. I have a 2002 saturn SL or somthing like that. Check engine light came on and it gave me a reading about the thermostat. The light is off now but the temp gauge seems likes its all off wake. If the car is siting for 1 hour and i turn the car on it says it is already at normal runing temp. 30seconds of driving it is about 1/2 inch away from the red zone. Turn the heater on and it drops down really fast. do i need a new thermostat?

In a month or so headers, y pipe and a random tech cat will go on. We will find out then how loud it's going to get. Oh we put a new rear ypipe on as well.

I'll tell you the same thing I tell customers, do not nickel and dime your power add ons. Save your money for quality improvements that will make a difference. Also, as already suggested too, have a plan. For instance, why are you keeping or adding the 4+3? Is your current trans going or gone and you need something to go down the road? I hope you're not swapping a 4+3 into the car. That would be a bad move in my book.

Also, if your money is starting to burn a hole in your pocket, don't go crazy with dress up items that everyone else has. Step back and take a look at things and see what you can do yourself with a little imagination, some time, and a whole let less money. Spray paint is cheap and looks great when applied correctly.

Oh and for a radiator, I sell DeWitts for $460 for your car. If you really want one, I'll see what I can do about the pricing, just let me know.

Car already has a 4+3 with a good overdrive and messed up 4 speed so ill replace the 4 speed.

yeah i told him the transmission problems, and its funny that you said something about a good bike. Me and my friends were looking at one today for 1300 and we decided your going to pay for what you get. And if something goes wrong with a bike on the freeway your F******. I might get the bike and then just keep working on the corvette over time

Ok so finally I will start working on my 1988 corvette, but i have to start ordering all my parts. I found a 4+3 for pretty cheap, so ill be sticking with the 4+3 instead of going 6 speed. I also need a radiator, but im not sure what radiator to go with. On mamotorworks.com there are like black ice and heavy duty, but I don't want to spend 500$ on a radiator. Can someone post some radiators and tell me why I should use that one instead of another one. Also i might look into buying a throttle body to increase HP and response, anyone know what throttle body to recommend? I also have a question about chipping my corvette. What chip do I buy and where does it go? Does it just plug into the slots underneath the steering wheel?

And when she told me that this other dude dosent have a car I just gave her a look. Regardless, you took the piss out of someone cause a girl drove them around. Your personality wont be measured on what vehicles you do have. It will however be measured on your attitude, and laughing at someone else simply cause a girl went to pick them up on a night out is really poor taste. If i were her, youd have almost blown your chances right there.

i understand and i didnt bust up laughing in front of her. what happened was she said that and i looked at her like just like your last boyfriend and she was like i know i know. and i said oh well your a big girl you can take care of yourself.

Having a car does not indicate personality in any way, shape, or form, and nor does the type of car you do or dont have. Taking the piss out of someone for not having a car when you have a Corvette that DOES NOT WORK is just bad form. Very bad.

Dood, shes probably thinking "Why can't he paint the house for his Mom and fix his own car?"

I've never been to Sushi so can't say anything about that town. Maybe a nice restaurant with exotic and interesting food. Gawd, what ever you do, don't take her to one of those Asian places that serve fish bait!

Honk if this helps you.....

no she dosent think either of those. my mom and her mom use to be roommates when i was like 5 and she 8. and just recently my mom and her mom are hanging out again so that is how we no each other. She loves painting and thats what she does as a carrier so my mom is hiring her to paint the house. I just need some creative ideas on dates cause that one guy took her to something that sounded like a crap load of fun. Only reason for sushi is because she likes sushi alot me on the other hand thinks it is nasty lol, but shes worth eating nasty fish. Well she was painting the house i was helping her with moving stuff and just talking to her and we also went out to lunch both days. She said i should try sushi and i said hows sunday at 8 sound? sounds like a plan was her response, but after that date i need to think of another date that is creative and fun. Was thinking about asking her to 6 flags or you no something fun instead of just a dinner.

she is the one on the right. She is really down to earth kinda girl. The guy see went on a date last night it was at a trampoline house thing or something like that. When i was talking to her yesterday i asked her what time she was leaving for the date and she said, i have to take a shower and then pick him up. I BUSTED up laughing, the guy doesnt even have a car? I was also talking to her about her EX and her having to drive him around everywhere. She is 20 years old and is a decorative painter, like painting the inside of houses. My mom is hiring her to paint our house so we have been talking for the past couple of days well she was painting. I would take her on a ride in the corvette, but its not running atm. Well its running but not well.

I just came back from a drive with my top removed. I rarely, rarely drive with it in. That also however means that from mid-October through mid-March it rarely leaves the garage.

Fortunately I have a company car (Magnum) so I don't have to commute in my vette.

I am also fortunate that I live around the Seattle area and from about late May until early September it is 65-80 degrees almost every day with a few puffy clouds, a light breeze and no humidity to speak of. Perfect targa weather!

As far as removal and installation, I am a very big...uh, thick guy. I'm about 6' and 335lbs. I have the rechargeable black & decker screwdriver with the T45 bit and it takes about 2 minutes to bolt it on or unbolt it. With my size and ballast I have no trouble putting it in the cargo area, I do have the solid top by the way.

The only issue is that if you are attempting to re-install the top you have to have the vehicle on very very level ground. It's okay if it is uphill or downhill but all four corners of the car need to be on a level horizontal plane. Unfortunately because the car flexes so much if you have one or more tires below the others it changes the dimensions of the opening relative to the top of the windshield and the rollhoop. The dang thing just won't line up well enough to sink the bolts in.

Anyway, that's my two cents.

What I really need is some help locating an AFSB bar from any manufacturer.

Steve Guy

im 6'6 290 lbs. its not a problem with the weight of the thing it is just a bitch to unbolt. and bolt in

are you sure you want to rebuild the 4+3. i have been doing ALOT of research about transmission you can ask anyone on this forums there all mad at me about my transmission problems. theres a couple options you can choose from. If you have $3800 for the transmission then go with the TKO500 or 600. if you dont and want a 6 speed there are two options there. you can go richmond 6 speed which is a direct swap over(you can use same clutch and bellhouseing) or you can go ZF6 which is the 6 speed transmission they use in the 89-96 corvettes but you will have to change out everything. look for my 4+3 transmission post and central coster wrote everything you need for the swap. or you can fix your 4+3 if thats what you want. if your overdrive unit is messed up and thats all you need shoot me a pm. i should be pulling my OD unit within the next could weeks and probably selling it.

Ps. ill start from here on out sorry bogus

So for you guys or gals that have the targa top, do you ever take it off or is it just to much of a pain to take off and put back on cause it is bolted in. Why did corvette go with something like the supras do slides in on the back and then turn a handle to lock the front. Has anyone sawed off the end of the tool and put it on a power tool so it is easyer to take off and put back on? Also, do they make things to change it from that crappy bolt on design to more like the supra or something that isnt a pain?

Ok, so recently i washed my 1988 corvette because it was nasty dirty. Well washing it I also sprayed the gas cap area down with high pressure water. I did not think anything of it till the other day i started it up to move it, well when i reved it up it would backfire at like 3000-3500 rpm's. Could this be because I got water in the gas tank and if so how big of problem could I be facing here.
