July 2008 issue, page 61.
A while back I ran across a thread on another forum stating that a local (Delaware) teen had purchased an 80 Corvette and got burned due to it having a cracked frame.
The Corvette Club of Northern Delaware took pity on the young guy and asked for help in finding a new frame for the car. They wanted to let the owner know that the Corvette community was kind and helpful to its own and that not everyone was like the jerk that stuck him with a for-crap car.
They also set up a Paypal site for donations to help out. Well, I am just an old softy so I ponied up a couple of bux for the kid.
Corvette Enthusiast did a nice article on the rebuild of the 1980 and listed all the names of those who helped out.
I really have to hand it to the North Delaware club as the members really put a lot of effort into fixing the junker up and making sure it was safe to drive. Several of the well known Corvette parts suppliers donated to the project too. Another good idea they had was to have the 17 year old owner help them with the rebuild.
Great article and worth the cover price to buy this issue in case you don't have a subscription.

That's a neat story! I am glad they required him to help with the build. I am sure he learned a TON from it.

I know a number of the members from CCND and they are really great people. Their past president (I don't think he is still their president) is a great guy named Jack Layton. He has a BAD 1987 Callaway. Kinda Champange metallic with brown cloth interior. STRIKING looking car... and don't forget they Dymags.

"I get my name in Corvette Enthusiast magazine!"

So what....I got my name in the newspaper under "police blotter"......jk.

That's cool. I remember that post on CF about that kid. Cool that it all worked out like that. There is a good community out there for helping people out.
