Well,

Spring is here and its starting to get warm. Its a common trend that when it gets warm the fun cars are supposed to come out but with me, the warm weather just means there is more time to get wrapped up in projects.

My 95 Monte Carlo has no A/C. Fortunately I located the problem; leaky compressor. I got a new compressor, FOT, and Accumulator.

The only thing I need is to get the system sucked out to remove any water that may have accumulated over the years and also, to cause a vacuum so I can check for leaks. Any ideas on how I can do this or where i can go??? I don't want to get F'ed in the SS like I normally do, nor do I want to pay out the waazoo to have something simple done.

unfortunately, you will have to py out the ass, or invest about $400 on a decent vacuum pump.

Conversely you don't NEED to pull a vacuum on the system, it is the best method, especially for leak detection and making the system easier to charge, but you cn purge the lines with nitrogen to remove and moisture

any gas supply store would have it. I go to a place called airtech.

Any place that fills oxygen or acetelyne tanks for welding should also have nitrogen

if you have an air compressor you can get a vacuum pump from harbor freight. You may need the gauges as well around $40-$50 for all. It does use a bunch of CFM's but it pulls a prety good vacuum if you like to do things yourself that is

Hey Guys,

It took some time as most of my "small" projects seem to take MONTHS AND MONTHS... but I finally purchased a FJC 2.5CFM Dual Stage Vacuum Pump and a set of New Manifold Gauages for $150 off the FJC Site. Hopefully they will come in the mail soon and I will be able to get all my A/C Systems fixed!

I don't think nitrogen is going to remove any water.

If you pull a vaccuum it will boil the water into gas and the vacuum pump will remove most of it.

I would use nitrogen though to leak check it, not the little wussy vaccuum pressure.

I had it done a couple of weeks ago for $90.00. Its called a complete system evacuation. It was the best $90.00 I ever spent.
