I need to confirm what a code 32 means.

that could be one of 2 things...

1) the solinoid that fires up the egr

2) the egr valve itself

now, considering it took forever to light up, I would say it's the valve itself.

Dollars to donuts, it's OEM, so a replacement would not be all bad. It's just labour intensive.

3) EGR Temp Switch connector or wire (in pipe between intake and passenger side exhaust manifold, has single black wire and plugs into connector behind distributor)

On The Right Side Of The Engine Where The Tube With The Silver Insulation. The Wire That Goes Into The Ceramic Piece Is Loose. The Wire Goes Behind The Distributor. Can I Unplug The Wire And Screw That Wire Into The Ceramic. Will It Or Not Screw In. But I Can Tell You The Wire Is Very Loose. Could That Throw A Code 32?
A Loose Wire Still Connected But Alot Of Movement

GM makes a connector to replace that loose one.

EGR does a one thing... it lowers combustion temperatures by introducing exhaust gases.

That results in two things: lowering NOx emissions and reducing the engines propensity to detonation.

32 is an annoyance. You can try and fix it but it may just come right back on. I've got a car at the shop now that I am working on. Go through the directions in the FSM to test everything. I get to the end because everything tests as being fine. What does the book say? "The circuit is fine" It offers no suggestions as to why the code comes on beyond that if everything tests fine. So basically either GM is saying screw you to the Imperial Federal Government or they just want your money to diagnose a non issue. Don't sweat it unless you have to pass emissions, then get the code removed via a chip burn.

The answer to your question in post#8 is
yes. That switch has failed. The replacement
for "corvette" isn't always in stock near me,
but the "camaro" part usually is. The camaro
switch has a longer wire and cost a couple of
dollars more. Both my T.P.I. cars have done that.
