I was reading an article in the latest AutoWeek about the Mustang GT500KR - I about fell out of my chair when I saw the price - $79,995! I'm sure it's a real nice Mustang and all, and they're only gonna make 1000 of them, but still, it's Mustang.

I dunno. C&D has an article online about it. THey say it'll be in the mid 50's. I wonder if $80 is with the dealer mark up?
Not a bad looking car, but I don't like the rims.

Yeah...typical.

"Way back when the Ford Shelby Mustang GT500KR was announced at the 2007 New York auto show, we speculated that it might cost $50,000—maybe $55,000, tops. Turns out we were very, very wrong.

Ford today released pricing information for the 540-hp, supercharged ultra-Stang, and it will cost a whopping $79,995 (including gas-guzzler tax) when it goes on sale in May. That’s right folks, more than any production Mustang in history, and more than several Car and Driver favorites."

My wife drives an 08' Lexus and backed over a neighbors mail box. Had to replace the rear door...while in the shop, she rented a new Mustang. While driving it for a week, she said "you spoiled me, that Mustang was the worst POS I have ever driven".

Yeah, we rented a Mustang convertible last year when we went to Maui. It was leaps and bounds better than the '94 we bought new, but still felt very cheap and plasticky.

The base models are garbage. But when you look at the price difference between the $18K stripped version and that $80K car, you see why they have to make the base model interior out of plastic.

It felt like riding around town in a bathtub.
