i drove the vette home from carlisle with no problems. parked it and it has sat ever since.

i just went to drive it and i have no power brakes.

the pedal is hard as a rock and i have no idea whats up. i checked the vacuum line from the carb to the master cylionder and its still hooked up, no holes or anything. when i pinch the line the engine bogs.

any suggestions?

Sounds like a bad power brake booster. Cars with headers are prone to cracking from the excessive heat near the plastic. That was the case with mine. Not uncommon problem, unfortunately. $250 + labor should get it fixed.

My 87 did that too, and it was through lack of use. The diaphram inside had split, i fixed it with electrical tape and it worked perfect til it split in another spot.

I ended up getting a rebuild kit and fixing it.

(Stupid as it is, those C4 boosters are made right here in Australia, yet NO ONE HAS THE F***EN PARTS, and no one wants to try and get them either, so no idea where youd get the parts.)

That's it...just replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. Not too hard of a job to do yourself, but much better with a couple of buds to help out when you get tired of twisting into position under the dash to get the nuts off those bolts.

If you'd like a huge improvement in your stopping power, put in a new dual diaphragm booster. This unit has a metal case, not plastic, and it fits right in where your single diaphragm unit fits. It's similar to the ZR1 booster, but the ZR1 booster won't fit regular 'vettes.

This booster costs a little more than the standard booster, but it works a lot better!! It's available from SAC Hot Rod, Orange CA, phone 714-997-3433. This booster is about $415.

OMG YES! It's not that hard of a job but a serious PITA to get at the nuts above the pedal. It probably took us (Red Johnny, Chad and I) about 1 hour for those two nuts and 10 mins for everything else!

Yeah and get ready for a cramp if you cant get it right away. 1st though is sliding the seat all the way back and angleing your body on the floor....That sucks!! Make sure you have a flash light with batterys that work too
