Another thread from "over there" I thought you might want to see.

The good old "tuffs of yard" test.

Hat's off to you him doing this, sometimes people take too much time theorizing, instead of just getting out there and testing it!

[QUOTE]RC45,
Here are some videos.

The audio sucks, but I left to help indicate speed.

I guess the big question is whether the behaviour observed is good, bad, indifferent or as desired.

WindTunnel Hood 1
A video showing behaviour of airflow over the ACP Extractor hood.

The run is up and down a local side road - one way with vents on top of the fender closed, and on the way back open.

The radiato shroud/box is closed.

WindTunnel Hood 2
A video showing behaviour of airflow over the ACP Extractor hood.

The run is up and down a local side road - both ways with vents on top of the fender are open.

The radiator shroud/box is open.

WindTunnel Hood 3
A video showing behaviour of airflow over the ACP Extractor hood.

The run is down a local side road - this time from a different view.

The radiator shroud/box is open.

WindTunnel Wheel
A video showing behaviour of airflow around the Gurney Flap (?) placed on the leading edge of the front wheel well.

The run is up a local side road.

WindTunnel Fender Gill
A video showing behaviour of airflow around the drivers fender gill/vent.

The run is up and down a local side road - one way with wheel well vent closed, and on the way back open.

I looked at that too, as I did a similar test last year. I wish I could help him out more but I'm not schooled in aero. Hopefully someone experienced chimes in.

While we're on the subject I have an aero related question. Why is the later C4 radiator tipped backwards? Since I'm removing the A/C I thought of tipping the radiator forwards then venting the hood. To help with aero/drag/cooling.

I don't know why, but I can hazard a guess:

it was tipped back to lower the top of the radiator. It was prone to air pockets before that.

It could also inprove air flow underhood.

I believe that they are tipped back is to improve the surface area exposed to the air flow through the radiator.

My theory anyways.

Good effort, but I don't see anything resembling conclusive results.
