I have come to the conclusion that it is good to know someone who owns a boat.

I've been told that a Corvette and a boat are similar in that the second happiest day of the owner's life is the day he buys it!

Yeh, I have owned three other floating money holes in the past, but never a blow boat. I have always wanted to have one, as I always loved sailing on friends boats.

A couple guys I work with have much larger sailboats and I have been going out with them a few times this summer. This one came up for cheap, and its only 30 minutes from the house as it sits ready to sail.

I'll have the winter to clean it up and get ready for some March sailing. This one doesn't need too much at this time, but I'm sure it will get needy too.

Oh man, You have to BG. Tell ya what, I can't own a sailboat for a number of practical reasons, water depth, bridge clearance, but you pick that up I'll take you on my boat and you take me sailing.

DEAL?

Even if you don't, feel free to come share some beer with me on mine. I've been from MD to Lake Champlain on my boat...

This sailboat is just a little 25' weekender, but it will be a good first sailboat.
The guy that owns it lives over three hours from the boat in Front Royal Virginia, his wife is getting ready to deliver number four, and he wants out. I'm picking up the slip fee and practically stealing the boat.

It took me 35 minutes to get to the marina from my house. Not bad. I live two blocks from the water, but the marinas near my house have 1) bridge problem 2) cost prohibitive on the other side of the bridge.

I'm bored so here's some pics of the 'hood.

Is it manageable with one person? That's the biggest problem I've seen with sailboats. It's been a long time since I've been on the water.

My folks actually live on a big river in MI and have three docks along the sea wall but don't have a boat My dad has been "looking" for one forever but hasn't bit the bullet. Don't think it'll ever happen.

Enjoy the boat!

So, curious, how much does a boat like that cost?

And are you not worried about the uprising cost of wind like everything else in this world?

Let's just say boats are worth less than C4s right now.

Well I understand the new administration is requesting Congress to approve a tax on wind. It will be taxed by the square footage of the sail or in the case of wind-mills by the watts of energy produced.

These boats are 30 years old. They can be found in all different stages of decay. Not unlike C4s and C3s. Some have been taken care of very good. This one appears to be ok. The part that I can't see is a very important part and thats the bottom of the hull. The owner is adamant that the bottom is ok and was checked out good last spring when it was painted.

I have searched the prices on this particular boat (1974 C&C 25 Mk 1) and they range from free to about $15,000 depending on condition. Most people own them outright and are just stuck paying slip rental. New sailboats are frickin' expensive. Prohibitively expensive for most people I know.

Also - the slip is so close to open water that the guy said he has used less than ten gallons of fuel in 5 years.

I see it's for sale already. Tired of it that quick?

It is a nice looking boat. My co-worker has a similar one.

Chesapeake City looks adorable! I do hope a hurricane doesn't make landfall there... or else Chesapeake City won't be there anymore.

I know you all love photos so here are some more that I took at the marina today.

Yeh, I was thinking I could have got one hell of a sailboat for what I sunk into the Vette over the past year!!!

I still love my Vette and need it to drive to the marina in the Spring time.

Might be the same satellite as google earth; it's from old map software I used for courier and delivery work - MotherPlanet or something...

Blue crabs! Got steamer? Best food on the planet with beer - steamed Chesapeake blues and Carling Black Label yup.

When you coming by? Maybe have a Guru party at my place next year. I'd do it in the spring but crab prices are way up early and down at the end. I can get crabs here in town dirt cheap right now. Beer is always about the same.

I got to be in Annapolis by 9:30 to meet some guys to go sailing and I'm already three glasses into some new red wine my darling spouse brought home earlier!!

Got to go to bed before I bore you all to death with my fat fingers.

Cheers
