Sell all shares of the big 3. NOW.

Convert to an index fund for the REST of the manufacturers (might actually be too late to do that tho'...)

Why's that?

Chrysler was in the cr@pper when they got government loads and they managed to turn it around.

We should make a boxes based on how long that money will last before they are asking for more money and bet on it.

Should be a fun game,... much the same the one they are playing....

Sure, but the economic times were very different then.

Remember the Dodge Shelby? Good times!!!!!

Chrysler had dynamic leadership. As much as we look back with disgust on the K car, it was much better then what they were making. There was also a stronger "buy American" sentiment back then. A lot of that can be attributed to a more patriotic public, and the Japanese had not yet started to significantly manufacture in the US.

GM is $62B in debt and is run by an idiot. The corporate culture is counter productive. GM is walking dead. Bankruptcy would at least allow them to shake things up, and give them a chance. A loan is not going to do anything but waste money. I wouldn't be surprised if GM's first move is to have meeting of executives, grant bonuses and raises, and structure parachutes.

Let GM and Chrysler go bankrupt.
Buy and hold Ford stock. They're going to make it.

Found this after looking for more news on Ford passing on the bailout $:

On CNBC I saw a great interview today. They'll never let those 3 die uncontrolled. A little retooling and the carmakers are the #1 weapons maker if need be, get the message?

I agree with you, but on the other hand its not a complete impossibility. Just think of how much demand their will be for Ford's if GM and Chrysler go out of business. Especially people who would prefer to only buy American like myself. And all the government contracts... That puts alot of stress on a company. Many compaines have failed because they haven't been able to restructure properly.

I don't see the big 3 going anywhere just because of the amount of people they employ, but these days ya never know...
