Hey all, I just joined a new Corvette site called VetteBlock.com

http://www.vetteblock.com/profile/DonHaller

I didn't have all of your email addresses and didn't want to invite each of you individually, so if you want to check out a brand new site go see it and join up.

No kidding. If there were only a few I think the sites would be great but the problem is there is too many so with members scattered to the winds it seems no site gets too large. There are two big ones I know of CF and DC and both dont impress. I like it here even though its still in the crawl-walk phase it has great potential. Most sites are set up strictly as forums with little knowledge base. Here its kinda set up for knowledge.

Exactly!!!! It makes you wonder though what the guy was thinking cause when you do a google search nothing will come up for that site and how are they to get new members. I know of very few people who would blindly join a site. But I am not trying to bash the site being how I have not seen it and since I am not joining just to look.....(walks away quietly)

It does have some quirks, but I think the guy that set it up had something different in mind than the same kind of forums that litter the internet.

It is more like a Facebook for the Corvette enthusiast. I didn't even notice not being able to lurk before joining. I was sent a link directly from the developer, so I guess I missed that issue.

I'm assuming he is located somewhere in Texas.

The forum part of the site is not its strong point for sure and needs a little more development in that respect.

It has some great photo sharing, and networking tools.

I too like it here better, but its always interesting to check out other stuff.

Hey guys. The site is currently in beta testing so the entire site isn't viewable without a username and password.

This is the facebook model of signup before you can view. This is to protect the privacy of our users.

The final model for VetteBlock will turn the privacy over to the user itself so they can decide what they want to show or hide to the world. This is more of a Myspace model.

We didn't spend lots of time of the forums aspect of the site on purpose, because we wanted it to be more about the networking and the feel you get at a car show instead of something like Corvette Forums which has been done to death.

Instead you can have discussions on members profile pages, discussions on groups, and on January 15th we'll be releasing our real-time chat feature.

For today only we've set up the privacy to show the main page only. Clicking past that will prompt for users to sign up for a free account.

This is to protect our current members photos, videos, and information they have posted.

Thanks for the great feedback guys.
