Yeah, but it'll probably take another million to make it pristine. Helluva find, though!

That's a good point... but I wouldn't WANT to restore it.

Preserve it, yes. Restore, doubt it.

I guess the decision will have to be made once they determine the condition of the chassis.

I saw that it sold. Good for them, but damn that's still a lot of money. I know a guy that does that type of restoration work. Big big money these guys spend on their cars.

oh, yea... but this gets to the point where it is art... not just a car.

it's like saying the Mona Lisa is just a piece of stained canvas... uh, yea.

A guy I race with manages a 200 car private collection and was Bill Harrah's lead restorer. Big, big money is right. $50k just for paint.
He's currently doing a '37 Auto Union for this year's Pebble Beach.

No, unfortunately, this is a touring coupe. The front fenders are about 15 feet long.

But the guy does have the Ferrari Barchetta that won the Milla Mila (spelling). Also has an early 1900's Rolls Royce racecar. And he has 3 Bugattis.

They had a ZR1 with 3,000 miles on it but sold it at auction last year.

The National Auto Museum in Reno's pretty cool. It's the old Harrah's collection.
