I'm referring to the brake light switch for a C3 equipped with cruise control.

I replaced my non-cruise single set switch with the one pictured above. My plan is to use the second set of terminals that is normally for the cruise control...to switch off my overdrive lockup converter.

I'm installing a TH2004R and have a B&M lockup kit to use for the lockup converter. It has a yellow wire that seems to give the lockup switched 12V that locks it up at a pre-set speed. The kit says that if you want the lockup to be released when you hit the brake you need that 12V source cut with the pedal. That means they want you to cut that yellow wire with a switch attached to the brake pedal to tell the controller that you have hit the brakes and you want the lockup to disengage immediately.

I chose that switch because it has the extra terminals and I assume that it would perform the same function for the cruise control.

The problem is I don't have the switch out of the car to test, and I want to make sure the second set of terminals lets the 12V signal through at all times and when the switch is depressed via the brake pedal that the 12V signal will be cut. I know the first set for the brakes is the opposite so I'm hoping I am right and I was hoping someone else knew for sure.

Is that second set of terminals a direct connection until the switch is depressed?

Yes. This is a very common part, and as you said, has a NC and NO switch. I'm using one on my truck for unlocking the converter.

Just make sure it's adjusted properly. Previous owner had it adjusted too far up and it was always unlocking the converter, yet the brake lights didn't trip yet at that point.

I like to adjust it so it takes very little brake to activate the brake lights, good for flashing tailgaters without actually slowing down.

Yeah that's how I adjust my pedal too...sensitive to any movement at all and it's a new switch too. Thanks.

Hello DB,
Good to see you here. That looks like the same switch that BTO sent me with my 200r4, it should work great for you. Have you got your tranny in now?

Thanks, great to see you here too.

No I was waiting to install the new 405 and the TH2004R together but budget problems have put off my cam purchase. I'll either go ahead with the transmission install this spring or it'll have to wait until the engine goes in. I'm just getting the controller mounted and the wiring ready so when the transmission does go in it'll be a plug and play installation.

Ahhhhh you are going to love the 200r4. That was one of the better things I have done to my car.
