I was working on my windshield wipers today, bending and forming, to make them set better on the windshield. I had the keys in the ignition in the on position, so I could turn the wipers on and off. But I didn't have the windows down. Well the door shut slightly and I couldn't get it open. I got a spare key, it wouldn't unlock either door. CRAP!! And of course, pressing the second remote wouldn't do anything. My savior, the little green button on my remote that pops the rear glass, it worked !! I had to reach the door lock from the rear with a broom handle, at least that worked.

I hate leaving the keys in the car if I'm not in it. Window open if my ass leaves the seat with the keys inside. Glad you had a happy ending.

sounds like it's time to get a new set of keys made!
I keep a door key in my wallet for just that situation. I locked my keys in the car by mistake once and had to wait like 2 hours for my Mom to bring me keys... Never again! I don't have a spare ignition key, but I figure that 99% of the time, I will lock them inside, versus losing them completely. I have also intentionally locked them inside when I don't want the big bulge in pocket. Hide them in the console or glove box and lock same. |

Even with the ignition on shouldn't the spare key turn the lock mechanism ? Cause it didn't. I'm thinking of locking the keys in the car again (with the windows open) and reinacting the situation. I hate my remotes cause they eat batteries and I never know if its going work.

I guess the question is this: How long did it take to get your family out?
I wonder if your door key is right... did you try it on both sides? I know my drivers lock is a bit messed up. |
