There is a new gadget on the market that looks like a great idea.
It is a delay module that will delay torque converter lock up by 2-27 seconds, depending on where you set it. Looks like a great idea.
This would give someone the option of altering torque converter lock up to suit their needs without requiring re wiring of the lock up circuit or custom prom burning.

I agree. Just one more item that the aftermarket provides to help custom tune these transmissions. I have no idea what they cost, or how easy they will be to install, but I will likely buy one when it hots the dealers shelves.

I found that many of these bits get real expensive real fast!

When my friend Nelson V. (not a C4 Guru member, but a friend at CF) lost the 700R4 in his 71 Chevelle (backed by a 454, thank you), we explored the possibility of doing a 4L80E... and man the controllers were EXPENSIVE. Like $999.00 worth of expensive!

I can see where that'd be useful. Does it apply to the 4L60E too, perchance?

Thanks Pete. If not, I've been meaning to wire up a maunual switch for it anyway. But this would be handy for my daily driving since I drive on a lot of winding roads where I live. BTW, what's your take on using a lock-up full on such as when drag racing. Is this hard on the trans if it's beefed?

Some guys claim that they reduce their et's by locking the converter at some point of the 1/4 mile.
My car did not gain at all after many attempts to find the "sweet spot"
Most performance converters use raybestos 500 hp friction material. This is the best lock up friction lining avaiable. If you are making less than 500-550 flywheel hp, them there is no serious disadvantage to locking it up during a wot run.

About the best thing you can easily do to prolong the life of an auto tranny is install an aux cooler. Heat kills auto tranny's like nothing else.
