Well I finally got the Comp hydraulic retro-roller cam for my 405. It's a big step for me as I've been waiting to be able to purchase it for around a full year now.
I have the cam installed and rods 1/2 & 5/6 removed. I have to clearance the rod bolts since I'm using 5.7" rods on the 400 crank. My goal is to get them done and back in the engine Sunday before the Rams play. Once back in I can finally button the engine up for good, get the heads and rockers on and finally check my exact push-rod length. I'm still debating on thinner head gaskets for a more optimal quench and slightly higher compression. I'm just worried I won't be able to find a 400 head gasket thinner that's still appropriate for aluminum heads. I'll be sure to update the thread Sunday with pics of the various steps of the build. |
