i recently bought a 1988 corvette. the gas pedal in the corvette is really weird sometimes. it is really hard to push then all of a sudden it just gives out of no where and i rev it up to like 3000 rpm. ive been stuck at a stop cause i cant just ease the pedal in. i push it and it dosent move push it harder it dosent move push it even harder and then it gives and i basically floor it. anyone no why this is? sometimes it dosent do it. mainly when the car is cold.

whoops i just noticed i said mpg, and what i mean by picking on me is because everyone else was speeding also but why would they pull over the suburban when they can get the corvette. im real careful when i drive i never drive over the speed limit when im in residential, but i do go over on freeways. 65 i WAY to slow, i have done 140 in my camaro but that was at 4 pm and there wasnt a car in site. also when i have other people in the car like a date i go the speed limit. my date keep trying to get my to unload my camaro on the freeway for her, but i wouldnt do it. main reason i was going 91 was because it was 8AM i just got off work and didnt want to go down to sell my camaro and everyone else was going relatively fast so i didnt notice how fast i was going.

yesterday i got off work at 7AM(graveyard shift) so i drive home(10 miles) then someone calls me to look at my camaro to buy it(its about 10 miles away) i told him ill meet him there in about 40 mins. so im cruising down highway 50. same speed as everyone else so i didnt notice my speed. a motor cycle cop was waiting on the side road and clocked me at 91MPG pulled me over and gave me my FIRST ticket EVER. he didnt even go easy saying 85 or 80 he gave me a 91 in 65. but the thing is he was just picking on my cause im in a corvette. everyone else was going about the same speed cause i wasnt FLYING past anyone and there was a good amount of people on the road so its not like i was swerving in and out of people to get to 91MPH i was in the car pool lane the whole time.

anyone else got stories of the cops picking on you cause your in a "sports car"

yesterday a cop pulled me over for going 91 on the freeway and the temp was 190 i remember looking for some reason well he was writing me a ticket.

a stiffer ride thats it. so i could put some z51 shocks on my vette and it would be just like a z51. and when you mean stiffer do you feel every bump you hit lol. cause i hold my breathe going over train tracks at 20mph. hit my head on the top of car also. but im 6'5 so its a really close fit anyways/

the other day the same thing was happeneing me and my friend jacked it up and he looked at the slave cylinder and saw that the arm on it or somthing was hiting. when i called him he just went under neath the pedels and tightened somthing. problem fixed. now the same noise is happening. i live downtown and dont have a garage or a driveway to jack the thing up. it the noise only happens when there is no pressure to the clutch.

i just bought a 88 corvette and the person i bought the clutch from put a whole new clutch system in recently. anyways when the corvette idles without me pushing the clutch in i hear a click click click click click sound. i took it back to the person that put the clutch in and he got underneath the pedels and adjusted something. anyways i go to drive it today and the same click click click noise is happening. my mom thinks is might be the fly wheel or somthing. anyone have advice?

I HATE IT. how much is a 6 speed tranny and how hard would it be to put on myself? (1988)

Edit:
ok so the reason i hate the 4+3 is because it needs a whole new rebuild all the gears and everything.

so i have two options do a 4+3 rebuild or put a zf6 in the car.

im selling my camaro for 3800 so i have about 4500 to put into the corvette. I need almost all new interior that will cost me about 1 grand. and ill probably need to put around 500-1000$ into the engine(maybe thats just a complete guess out of no where) my question for you is it worth putting the zf6 in there or should i just rebuilt the 4+3.

putting a zf6 is about 2000$ and doing a rebuild probably 1200$

anyone like the zf6 better then the 4+3 or like the 4+3 better then the zf6.

(also ive got a friend with a 5.0 mustang that thinks he is hot ****. is the zf6 faster so i can blow his 5.0 away)

ok so i just bought a 1988 corvette. This is my first vette and i love it. but the thing that i HATE HATE HATE is the hydrolic clutch and the 4+3 transmission. i found a lt1 corvette engine with a 6 speed transmission for 1600 could probly talk him down to like 1400. do you think this is a good deal to do and if i did it how much could i sell my L98 and 4+3 for? also is it easy to change the hydrolic clutch! i cant stand the thing.
