Sounds like it could be blowby. Hopefully it is something simpler than that. I ended up with a new shortblock when mine did that.
Doing the leakdown test should tell all though.

Will, my dad has a fan off a Lincoln that I don't think he's going to use. He might part with it if you're interested.

It looks pretty bad-ass. Is there some sort of safety that would keep the rider from blowing their own head off?

What a nice ride in this morning. Vette outside temp said that it was 67* I love it. Except of course the warm air coming from under the hood fogged up the windshield. And the cooler temp brought out a new set of noises from the exhaust until it warmed up.

My cousin and her kids are in town from Tampa so we are supposed to meet for dinner tonight. I hardly see her since they moved to Tampa so it will be good to see her.

Reading the Carlise thread makes me wish I had made plans to go but Grams 85th B-day is more important.

Have a good one guru's.

Tommy, sounds like you're making a home out of that house. Can't wait to see the completed pics.

If anyone happens across the front fender to hood seals for $20/pr this year email me and I'll send you the money + shipping costs. All the vendors want $40 a set + shipping.

Atleast they were talking about Vettes for 18 pages.

Anyway, yes it is always nice to drive into work with the top off.

I'd take any of those first gen Camaros.

The roofless Blazer reminds me of so many car shows I went to in the 90's

I for one am thoroughly enjoying your "do nothing but fun stuff" Bill. Thanks for posting the pics.

It could be that. My radio doesn't have any problems picking up stations.
It would be funny if the Magnaflows are causing since we've all been complaining about how loud they are.

It's a Samsung android phone. No bluetooth or headset.

It's just ironic that it only happens in the vette.

Strange.

When driving the Vette, if I make or receive a call on my cellphone the person on the other end can not hear me. I asked my wife if she could just hear the exhaust and it was drowning out my voice. She said that it's more like I'm talking through a cup with a string. This only happens in the Vette. I can drive the same exact road at the same exact time with the VW and don't have a problem.

What could cause this? I had the ICM checked and it tested good. Could the HEI coil be going and cause that sort of disruption?

I don't really care if I figure it out for the sake of the phone calls cuz they disrupt the Magnaflow symphony. But I just want to make sure there's not something electronic about to go out.

Jeff

Well, I enjoyed my short visit with Dad. He got here about at about 1 on Monday and left this morning at 9am.
While he was here we put new rotors on the front of his car, went and had the tires rotated and I worked on the headlights on his car. I hate those plastic ones they put on newer cars.

He was just getting into Maryland on I-81 when I called him at 2 so he should be home around 6 or 7 tonight.

I was reading on the Microsoft store website and it says that with this purchase I can do either install.

I have a feeling that a fresh install might be less prone to issues.

Another amazing result is that the exhaust that I was complaining about actually sounds so much better now that the timing isn't jumping all over the place.

Thanks guys. I can't tell you how relieved I am that I got one of the issues solved.

I went out tonight with intentions of triple checking plug wires to make sure I didn't have one crossed. The car has been missing pretty good and acting pretty dogish.

I traced #2 up to the cap, pushed on the boot to make sure it was down tight...the cap moved. I thought I was imagining it. I grabbed the cap and I could wiggle the whole distributor back and forth.

I had bought one of the allen head bolt kits off ebay. It was a pain to tighten the dist. hold down bolt but I thought I got it tight after the last timing check....guess not. I pulled the dist. to make sure it hadn't messed up the drive gear. Since I had it out I took the ICM to Autozone to get it tested. He tested it atleast 10 times to get it hot and make sure it wouldn't fail, it tested good.

Came back, put it all together with the original bolt (I bought the dist. wrench while at AZ) and set the timing. I made sure that @#$&*(& bolt was tight this time.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE in the car. No more sluggishness, miss is gone.

I can't wait to finish the tune, this thing is going to be fun.

Where's my trophy?

Jeff
