Apparently there was an update that Microsoft sent out which now keeps TTS Datamaster from opening. Thank you to Matthew for finding that information for me.

Anyway, I went on a search and destroy mission last night to find this update and uninstall it. It shows up on my update history but not in my installed updates so I can not uninstall it. I am the only owner of this computer so there should not be an admin user account or anything set up.

So how the heck can I get rid of this update? REboot to a previous date? Will that get rid of it?

Thanks,
Jeff

This must be a Vista only problem? Mine works fine on Windows 7 with all latest updates.

Just found this on another forum for you. I hope this helps you out..

TTS NOT Vista compatible
The vendor got back to me and confirmed that TTS Datamaster is not Vista compatible and they won't get around to fixing it "any time soon" if at all.

Thanks for digging that up.

I had no problems with it for almost a year now but since July it hasn't worked.

Will a starving man turn down a peanut butter and tomato sandwich?

My customers are happy to spend $235 for the W7 upgrade.

Don't balk at 30 bucks......

I would jump hard at it.

Vista is, to put it mildly, a piece of shit.

Win7 is so much better.

Cool. I will do it tonight.

Should I do a fresh install or just upgrade? I can put most of what I want to save on a flash drive.

Win7 is a great system. I still use WinXP, only tried Vista once.

See what the box says. Sometimes it's an upgrade software version, sometimes it's a full version. I would prefer the full version, but for $29 I wouldn't complain!

I have an Old Sony Vaio (2002) in the garage I use when I'm down there. It runs on XP like a champ.

I was reading on the Microsoft store website and it says that with this purchase I can do either install.

I have a feeling that a fresh install might be less prone to issues.

Jeff, I would tend to agree with you, a clean install is likely going to provide a better base. If you have no problems with doing that.

Yep, sure is. Vista was an operating system that was pushed through before it was actually ready. XP is by far a better OS than vista was. Win7 is so much better than Vista or XP. I do agree with everyone else, a clean install would be better.

Good Luck to ya...

JeffK, If your experiencing lots of problems and continuous bluescreen's you would be doing yourself a favor by running a fresh install.

If on the other hand the system is somewhat stable and just acts slow and stupid at times, run the upgrade. You can always rerun the full install again if your unhappy with the results.

The full install takes about 1/2 hour. Have a network cable connected to assist the install with drivers and updates. The upgrade can take 4-8 hours depending upon the amount of software that's loaded and the amount of disk errors/problem the install program finds.

Good Luck
