Never did it myself, really. But my wife worked nights at Wal-Mart for a few months. I was in college, and we had a young daughter at the time.

I've worked mids for the past couple years. I don't mind them at all, kind of like it. I grew up watching my dad work mids for 20 years, so to me it's "normal". I've been on days filling in for a guy who was hurt, so now it's back to mids. Wife hates it, but oh well.

And the oven is beeping, which means it's time to go. (Did you think I was kidding?) Hot banana bread. Nice.

Have fun, talk to you when I return from the dark side (midnights, that is...)

I guess I am in the minority. I'm not saying that if I can get the exact same part at two different places and there is a significant price difference I will buy the more expensive one....that's just silly. But certain stores are a little higher than others but I'd rather go there because of the staff. If that makes sense. I buy 99% of my stuff online anyway, and save a bunch. It's the little stupid stuff, like copper washers, that I have to run to the parts store for at the last minute.

Ok for now. Killing time before bed....yes bed. I go back to mids tonight after being on days for the last 4 months...I'm gonna miss 'em....sniff.

Other than that gonna go hit the weights and then make some banana bread. Yum.

Hope everyone's day is good.

I have had good experience with Summit.

Last time I went to Murray's, the guy didn't know what crush washers were for caliper banjo bolts...I even explained them in idiot terms for him. Ugh. I ended up going to Carquest, which is usually more expensive on everything, but the old guy knew what he was talking about and recommended a couple other things to me, as well. Customer service makes such a huge difference in the auto parts game, to me at least.

Matthew

ps - thanks for the tip on that online vendor, I'll stay away.

Looks like a pretty good price - I'd love to put it on my 89. Looking at the front bumper where the work was done, it looks more like an epoxy than a fiberglass repair - anyone else have an idea?

I'd be afraid of breaking it the first time I drove it. 151 miles in 18 years? I'm sure there are some seals, belts, etc, that are bad from sitting.

Don't know if it helps, but I used to have a problem with my 94 s10 wipers - they would work intermittently. I had to pop the hood and wiggle the connector going into the wiper motor. Then they'd start working again. Never got around to actually fixing the problem properly because I sold it, but something to look at.

From grandsportregistry.com

12. Q: What is the GM part number for the Grand Sport Hashmarks decal & its dimensions?

The GM part number is 10279781 (GM LIST: $39.57), listed at "STRIPE, F/FDR WHL OPG" and each stripe is slightly different. The left (front most) stripe is 2-13/16" wide while the right (rear most) is 2-11/16" wide. Each is approximately 8-7/8" long and they are spaced 3/4" apart. Torch Red is a perfect match in color.

Note: As of 10/07, this item is still available from GM but in limited supply.

I have a metal booster that I bought online from piratejack.net. I haven't had any problems so far. You can check it out.

That and my recent c5 brake upgrade have greatly increased my stopping power.

Good luck,

I've seen a couple with the cotter pins and I liked the way they looked. I haven't seen that other type. I don't remember who had them, but I think I have a couple pics saved on my hard drive.

93 -

Thanks. I think it looks 100 times better. I still have to do the rears.

Bogus -

My buddy is a corvette mechanic and he gave me a set of low mile used rotors and pads from a c5 take off (his customer upgraded). They are factory AC Delco. The stopping power is so much different it's ridiculous. Best upgrade I've done (the few I've done so far).

I've used old cartridges before and when they didn't work (because ink dried at the surface) I took a wet paper towel and cleaned them off and they worked ok.

Can't hurt to try, right?

Well, as I stated before, I'd take pics when I did my upgrade, so here they are. Whole procedure was pretty straightforward, took a couple hours total (which included trip to the parts store). If I had to do it over, I could do it much quicker.

Calipers (painted black)
Resized Image

Brackets
Resized Image

Rotor size difference (c4 on left, c5 on right)
Resized Image

Caliper and rotor removed (time to clean up the hub before reinstalling the new rotor)
Resized Image

Bracket installed
Resized Image

C5 caliper, abutment bracket, pads put together before installing
Resized Image

Altogether before hooking up brake lines
Resized Image

Bleeding the brake lines
Resized Image

I guess it's time to bleed the back ones, too, huh?

Sorry there are so many pics, but I thought some other people might like to see some of the steps. Feel free to ask any questions.

I'd say go for the c3 :thumbleft:
I sold my bike just after I bought my c4. My wife never liked the bike. I think she rode on it maybe 3 times ever. I bought her leathers, helmet, etc - she was alwasy scared of an accident. Never wanted me to ride it. She never made me feel guilty about it, but I knew that she was nervous everytime I rode. She loves the c4 though. I think most women have that feeling (not all, of course).
But like you, I want to learn as much as I can. Keep us posted.

Sounds like a whole lot of miscommunication. I hope everyone can see that and still be friendly. I deal with this stuff everyday at my job and sometimes an independent person has to step in and point it out. Usually both sides have valid points and it's hard to see that sometimes.

"People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along? Can we stop making it, making it horrible for the older people and the kids?...It’s just not right. It’s not right. It’s not, it’s not going to change anything. We’ll, we’ll get our justice....Please, we can get along here. We all can get along. I mean, we’re all stuck here for a while. Let’s try to work it out. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to work it out." Rodney King, 1992

I'll admit it, I'm a closet Fiero lover. I'd love to pick up an 88 and do one of those V8 conversions. I'd also someday love to have a 68/69 El Camino, too...

Yup. I've heard those fieros with the 32v northstar conversion are screamers. Big engine + little car = fast

I know how I'd feel:

"Oh darn, time to get an LT1"

I had a problem with them last year. I sent my mom (out of state) flowers for her bday. I ordered in time and paid extra for a saturday delivery. I checked the tracking # over and over and they weren't delivered. So I had to call my mom and tell her that I sent her flowers, but she wouldn't get them until Monday. She was ok with it, I wasn't. I was pretty ticked. I called up (i'm good w/customer service) and they gave me a refund for the expensive delivery costs, but it still didn't correct the problem. I won't use them again.

I agree it's sad that people have to bash like that, but oh well. I have my car because I like it. I don't really care about what they think. Could I go get a C6? Sure. But I have other responsibilities in my life. I just laugh when the guy doing the bashing is some 20 year old guy with a c5 who thinks he's cool. And it's funny because he's living in his mom's basement spending all of his paycheck on his car payment. Good thing the internet isn't real life. That's why it doesn't bother me.

If the above suggestions don't work, you should just climb through the window like Bo and Luke Duke.

Pappy - it looks like they fit 89-96.

95Vette - Do you have pics after the drop? Why did you switch the shocks out? Is there any difference in the ride or performance between the two that you noticed? I'll be changing mine this summer and I am interested in comparisons.

Thanks,

Matthew
