I'm tired of computers, electronics, reading codes and all that crap.

Besides, the C3 is a better looking car.

No! Expensive. $$$$$

I go to Hawaii for say. $150.00 per hour

But if someone suggested going to the beech to lay in the sun, I'd have to get the "double boring overtime" rate of $300.00 per hour.

I'd like to trade the 92 for a nice C3 but a nice C3 is 2 1/2 times the price of the 92.

Anyway, H.A.N. is at full speed here, drag races at the one casino on TV this morning.

Hi Thomas, welcome.

1. The C12 indicates no CURRENT codes and is what you usually want to see.

C41 may be your problem (Loss of ECM Serial Data). If the ECM isn't getting signals, the engine won't run right. It could be bad grounds (should be cleaned up), the harness connection to the ECM (rear of the engine compartment driver's side0 or a bad ECM.
You should look for the diagnosis flow chart in your manual.

H41 - LCD dimming circuit, ignore it all it does is dim the dash lights when it gets dark out. I'm been getting that code once in a while for 7 years in my 92.

BTW, H is a history code and not happening during the current code pull, C is current and IS happening during the current code pull.

4. ERR , yea error in the ECM circuit, probably an electrical connection or bad ECM, this is as important as the C42.

I don't have my list in front of me but I don't think the ERR in 7 and the H72 are part of your engine problem.

I'll try and look them up when I get a chance.

BTW, the Scotch Brite kit at HF is as good as the 3M, the arbor will fit your drill, it's just slower than using air.

If you have a dial indictor (even the $10 one from Harbor), after you pull the calipers, install 2 lug nuts and check the runout with the dial.

I'll bet they aren't warped.

The best way to clean them up is with a air grinder using the 2 or 3 inch Scotch Brite pads and brake clean.

Your rotors aren't warped, Tom.

There are places on them with either too much pad material transfer or a place where the pad material has been removed, caused by a heavy hot stop and then holding the brakes on (like at a red light).

If you're getting a pulsing on light pedal application, try pushing the brakes much harder, if the pulsing diminishes, it's pad material on the disc.
My Silverado does it.
Sometimes it can be cured by scotch briteing the discs and rebeding the pads. I'm too lazy to do mine.

Hummm........I bought a 340 horse, 63 Corvette in 1969 for $1,300 and a 1967 Corvette in 1973 for $3,000.

Prices on that vintage of Porsches (especially models like the "S") have been going way up for the last 10 years.

The new ones - I've driven a few of the standard 911s, the C7 is better.

I did drive a 2011 911 that I really liked but the price on it was $250,000.

Good luck Bob.

I changed my trans oil to the Beemer when I first got the 92, works well, shifts really smooth.

The oil price equals one quart of Castrol brake fluid for the car in my avatar.

And that Beemer oil must have come down in price since I bought mine.

Agreed, Bill......my concern would be with the function of the part....'restrictor'.

What does that part do? Something happens in the barrel of that part.
I will soon learn.

Don, that part is just a flow restrictor to slow down coolant flow thru the heater core so more heat can be extracted in the heater box. It's just a plastic tube with a smaller hole in it.

I'd have to go look but I think I threw mine away years ago.

But then, I think I've only turned the heater on once in the last 7 years.

In the latest new from GM, they are "promising" to fix the overheating issues with the 2017 model of the Z06.

So, take the price and add a bunch money to it if you plan to drive it like a sports car.

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, "My friend is dead! What can I do?" The operator says "Calm down. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a gun shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says "OK, now what?"

I was watching Roy Underhill use a "automatic mortise machine" made by the Shakers today. Foot powered (obviously), with hold downs, the chisel swiveled 360 degrees. It was VERY fast.

2. He who laughs last, thinks slowest.

3. A day without sunshine is like, well, night.

4. Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

5. When the chips are down the buffalo is empty.

10. Despite the cost of living, it still remains popular?

11. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

12. The 50-50-90 rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

13. It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end to end, someone would be stupid enough to try and pass them.

The right C2 can be a decent investment, more fun than a house.

Or a weekend DNBFS driver, more fun than mowing D lawn.

IT was 96 in Reno yesterday.

I ALMOST had to turn on the swamp cooler but at 5 p.m. I opened the kitchen window and the breeze blowing was fairly cool. I haven't turned on the swamp for 2 months.

The extra insulation I added when I redid the windows and siding paid off huge.

That all ends today and the whole way thru Saturday, 99-100.

Easy to understand thought Jackie Stewart knew how (he's the one in front).

I was perusing Panaorama Magazine, official magazine for the PCA (Porsche Club of America) and came across an interview with Bob Bondurant. Here are a few Q & A's I thought you might enjoy.

Q: "The best time you ever had in a car?"

A: "Riding with students at my racing school. Giving advice and watching them get better is always rewarding."

I've discussed instructing with Bob on more that one occasion. Been thru his facility talking with his instructors when I was racing at Firebird Raceway (which is right next door).

In Reno, I didn't have the guts to tell him that I just wanted the poster, not his autograph.
