...And with so many of our country's state governers recently railing against the Feds, some even openly talking about seceding, I suppose it's just a matter of time before The Great One starts rounding them up as well. It may be time to start practicing our goose-stepping techniques, comrades.

"The only extremists I see in this story are the asshats at DHS."

I've been getting rid of excess everything to get ready to eventually move. Last week I sold 2k rounds of ammo to the same guy, half 9mm, half .40 cal. He said he'd come straight from work. He showed up in a blue uniform that had DHS emblazoned on it. At least we know they're armed =)

Oh boy, stand by for some more of my incoming bad advice. But, by the time you go through your existing cylinder heads including the porting costs, it may pencil out to just sell your low mile heads and use that money to go towards an aftermarket pair. The difference may not be that great depending on the porting $. You let them know which cam and rocker ratio you intend on using, and they'll do the math and send you out new heads set up and ready for you. I know it's a slippery slope financially, and it's even worse when you feel like you're under the gun to get your car back on the road.

The only thing I don't like about mail order engines is if for some reason you have a problem, dealing with a stranger from out of town could turn into a nighmare. About 15-20 years ago I drove to Los Angeles to have Speed-O-Motive do a Rat for me. It turned out fine, but the 4+ hour round trip each time was even too far for my liking. If it turned south I don't even know what options you'd have with someone from out of state. I'm just guessing, but I'll bet the majority of people that leave feedback on Ebay engines leave it when they receive it, not when they actually run it. I'm a skeptic though, so take it with a grain of salt. If you could find a local guy with a good reputation, that would be best. The local racers know who to use, and more importantly who NOT to use. Sorry for the long winded gibberish =)

"Considering that C4 owners are probably about 2% of their market, and maybe f-body owners another 2.5% I'm not sure what the complaint would be."

I'm sure you're right, but young guys are still buying f-bodies and Fox bodies (sacrilege) and modifying them, that's a part of BBK's target market. They're cheap to get your foot in the door.

"But they would have been MUCH better off keeping quiet about it until it was further along, and until there was some sort of timetable for it to be finished."

CentralCoaster, you hit the nail on the head. There's nothing wrong with feeling out the market, but by putting reps in enthusiast forums and revealing a relatively low target price point prematurely while leading people to believe it's release was always just around the corner, they set themselves up for the criticism that they're receiving. I waited, and waited,.... and finally bought a Superram a few months ago. It's sitting on the table where my ex-wife's fern used to live (I guess they need water). As soon as I get my next smog cert in a few months, it's going on with a cam. BBK could have had my money. Ford engineered and put the Model A into production faster than BBK built this intake and without Autocad, Solidworks or a single CNC.

Hey Red_Johnny, If you already have data service for the Blackberry you may be able to tether it to your laptop without it costing an extra dime or additional software. If you Google the following search words "tether" "laptop" your phone model, for example "Blackbery pearl" "internet" and your provider name, for example "t-mobile" you will come back with a number of sites that will give you step by step instructions. Just print them if you don't have time now, and fool around with it over there. It worked for mine until it went swimming with the laundry. You'd think it would have been happy to get a bath, but no deal. Please stay well, and thank you for your service.

Here's BBK's # (951) 296-1771 in Temecula. We should get everyone from all of the forums with years long BBK intake threads to call up and clog their lines with the same question, "Is it ready yet?".

At the risk of giving bad advice, I'm just going to throw this out there and let the real Gurus correct me. I'll preface this by saying that I've yet to tear into my Corvette, so I don't even know if you can sneak the pan off, even if you disconnect the engine mounts and lift it a little. Here goes: If your oil pressure hasn't completely fallen off and if the rod knocking isn't too bad and changes under a slight load, it's possible that you can apply a band-aid over the weekend that will get you through the summer while you build a mighty mouse on a stand next to your car. You can pull one spark plug wire at a time or use a short length of garden hose as a stethoscope with one end held to your ear and the other to the engine to isolate the offending cylinder. If you pull that rod cap and the journal isn't galled badly, you may be able to clean any small burrs that are above the o.d. of the rod journal with strips of emmory (another typo?) and place a new bearing on it and run it for some time. It's not permanent, but with so few miles on your car and if you're willing to baby it while you build the monster, it might be worth the gamble on checking it out. There's my 2.5 cents of bad advice for the day.

I just edited this because it was a little too vague. Either way, best of luck.

"the other risk about letting a cheap shop do it is experience.

They don't know the ins and outs of working on one of these things... it takes attention to detail to make it happen."

After my car got t-boned by a guy with no insurance, I started scrounging up parts and met a Corvette dismantler. There was a C4 in there that you could tell was really clean....prior to the fire that gutted the dash and started into the engine compartment before being extinguished. It was started by an electrical short right after the guy had a new stereo installed. Sometimes cheaper is more expensive.

"I used National Parks Hwy/Amboy RD to open my Porsche 928S up when I left 29 Palms in 2004. I couldn't wait to get out of there and back to the east coast. Your right thou nothing like blasting wide open (158mph by GPS in my Porsche) looking forward and seeing nothing but miles and miles of desert sprawled out infront of you.
Will"

I've always liked those 928S's. That 4 valve engine was pretty neat. You very rarely see them around anymore, same with older 911's. I like those too.

It's almost like they designed those roads in the desert with high speed in mind. Arrow straight, no dips, no crossroads, and no traffic. Just put the center of the hood on the centerline and go. A guy I knew used to work for Saleen. When they were testing the S7 they'd go out at night to where the toll roads in Orange county were being built. They'd go around the barricades and run wide open. I know some guys that used to test prior to Bonneville in the wee hours of the morning on the I-15 between Escondido and Temecula. Guys with the need for speed always find a way.

I live out in the boonies, so I don't get to watch video via internet (dial-up only). Butt, when I was in my early forties I went in for a prostate exam. It wasn't until the following week when I received a thank you card from the Dr. that I figured out how he conducted the exam with both hands on my shoulders. I don't think I'll ever be the same.

Wow, she's acting like a baby! Seriously though, isn't this the same country that punishes women that are the victim of rape? I would never suggest that having sex with a minor is anything less than dispicable. However, if I could buy someone that would do my laundry, do the cooking, and keep the house clean for $13,000.....

I haven't read the information guide yet. Anything that raises taxes or costs additional money (OURS) automatically receives a no vote from me. They need to cut the fat before they reach into our pockets anymore. It's astonishing that after so many years of growth that this state doesn't have a large budget surplus. I think that alone is a good indicator of the mindset of those geniuses in Sacramento (Ahnold says, "Sah-kree-man-toe"). They squander every penny they get their sticky mitts on, then they have the audacity to come back to us for more. When they initially sold us on the lottery they promised that the additional lottery income would be directed to education, then they took the money that used to go into education and spent it elsewhere and education didn't really realize the benefits from increased funding that they led us to believe would occur. I think they're grifters and con-men that play a never ending shell game while borrowing into our future. And, in the spirit of the impending May 1st rallies, I'll declare out loud that those children's programs are disproportionately burdened by the children of illegal aliens. There, I said it =). They can take an additional nickel from me when they pry it from my cold, dead hands. That's it, I'm stocking up on canned goods and hunkering down. Standing by for derogatory characterizations hurled in my generally stingy direction.

Congrats! That is a beautiful car and with only 39,000 miles, that's fantastic! Hwy 62 just outside of 29 Palms heading towards Arizona is one of my favorite roads to run wide open in southern California. Aside from being in excellent condition, it's a looong very straight road going slightly downhill that you can easily see miles behind you and at least a minimum of five miles ahead. No cars in either direction equals right foot pinned. I ran my friends C5 to 167mph there before he made me pull over and give up the wheel, then he ran 171. We never saw another car, it's like a private testing area. Now I'm wondering what it looks like on google map. Ok, enough babbling from me. Please thank him for his service, we all owe him.

Below is an interesting excerpt from the following link:

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pi ... d=aEsNownABJ6Q&refer=home

And another one:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wor ... ike-symptoms-1674743.html

Kinda' spooky. And no, I'm not suggesting conspiracy.

"The first case was seen in Mexico on April 13. The outbreak coincided with the President Barack Obama’s trip to Mexico City on April 16. Obama was received at Mexico’s anthropology museum in Mexico City by Felipe Solis, a distinguished archeologist who died the following day from symptoms similar to flu, Reforma newspaper reported. The newspaper didn’t confirm if Solis had swine flu or not."

That's spooky. The difference between 1918 and now is air travel, within a day it's everywhere. Additionally, widespread paranoia and people intentionally staying at home certainly wouldn't help our already anemic economy. There's never good timing for something like this, but right now it's the last thing we need. Time will tell.

Bad timing, alot of kids were just there on Spring Break and have since returned to the states. I read another story that said the strain was not unlike a similar pandemic that ocurred in 1918. Hopefully, it will fade away as quickly as it popped up.

Swine Flu Turns Deadly in Mexico
Apr 24, 2009
Kenny Goldberg

Another child in San Diego has been diagnosed with swine flu. That brings the total number of cases in the U.S. to eight. The disease has also cropped up in Mexico City, where health officials say the virus has turned deadly. KPBS Reporter Kenny Goldberg has more.

Mexico's minister of health has confirmed there have been at least 900 human cases of swine flu. Mexican health officials say as many as 60 people who became ill have died.

The Mexican government has closed schools, theatres, and museums in Mexico City as a precaution.

Dr. Richard Besser is the acting director of the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. He says the swine flu virus in Mexico is the same strain that's in the U.S.

"While we are now working with health officials in Mexico, we're very early on in those efforts," says Dr. Besser. "We've only tested a very limited number of samples from Mexico, and we do not have enough information to fully assess the health threat posed by this swine flu virus."

Besser says one San Diegan who became infected had recently traveled to Mexico.

Kenny Goldberg, KPBS News.

That whole thing that happened between the militant gayngry judge and that lovely creature is nothing less than sickening. I could see it if the guy was judging their shoes or something, but isn't there something just a little bassackwards about gay men judging female beauty? The fact that the coward then had the audacity to attack the girl's convictions by calling her a bitch the next day speaks volumes about his character. Of course, if she already has poor vision and this episode gives her low self esteem, it could be good for the rest of us. In my case she'd have to be technically blind and truly hate herself, but hey...
