I am going to check the intake today but I will reorder the gasket and make sure its for the LT4. Trying to get the engine stuff completed before I take on the suspension.

I have been chasing an oil leak in my 1996 LT4. Tracer is showing its the oil filter housing. I put new gaskets on but its still leaking and appears to be the housing its self. Where can I locate a oil filter housing. GM parts is showing not available anymore.??

I need a little help with electric fans. 1996 LT-4.
I remember back a while ago about someone going the junk yard and getting ford electric fans as a replacement for a C-4. One of my fans is starting to make noise so I was looking to upgrade the electric fans. If that is not feasible, recommendations on replacing the fan motors.

Issue resolved. Took the car back to the new shop I go to. One lifter was not pumping up. Lifters replaced. The original spring issue was based upon the original engine builder at one of the top 100 corvette shops in the country supposedly put in comp cam springs matched the comp cam. When the heads were pulled, the shop suspects the springs were not comp springs. The springs that were pulled out were bee hive style. The shop (well known in DFW) thinks the springs put in when the engine was rebuilt were cheap china copies.
Same with lifters, not replaced but on the build sheet as new. Many other issues were resolved with the new shop. The owner specializes with LSx transplants into everything from Miata's to Nissan 350s. The owner specializes in the LTx also. Great shop.
Now, for the original repair I have been trying to complete for a year, the Banski rear end. That will be the February work!!

Lt-4, rebuilt to 383,25,000 miles on rebuild, had a comp cam (mild)installed when rebuilt. Started having problems with oil leaks around valve covers. I took to a shop for inspection. Shop calls and all valve spring dampners are broken. Heads sent off for repair, arp studs installed, new gaskets, get car back runs fantastic for 20 miles, then sounds like lifters are not pumping up, lots of ticking noise.
Go to start up yesterday and I hear a bad knocking noise coming from heads. I'm at a loss. Any ideas? This has got to be the most expensive engine rebuild and repair.

Ordered and installed the Bilstein sport shocks. Wow, what a difference in the ride. I didn't realize how bad the shocks were. I also found the passenger front shock loose.

Getting ready to order Bilstein shocks. Don't know which one, HD or sport. 1996 LT-4. Don't know if its a Z-51 car or not. Nothing in the console for car specs. Its a DD but on rough DFW roads.

1996 LT-4, 145K miles. Dailey driver with rough roads in the DFW metroplex. Getting ready to start on the suspension of my car.
Rear suspension- what parts to get for rear? Banski or OEM. The rear tires are wearing on the inside. I need to replace the camber rods.
Front- Ball joints upper and lower, tie rods?
The care darts a little back and forth. Corvette central has heim joint tie rod ends. Any good?
Looking for ideas to get the suspension in good condition. I am replacing the worn shocks with bilstein.

I just want to thank everyone who chimed in to help me complete a few repairs. I completed replacing the clutch master and slave and it works like factory. I replaced the intake manifold gaskets and we don't have any oil leaks. In the next few weeks, I will be working on the front and rear suspension so I will be posting for help then.
Thanks again!!

Yes, it is the cast unit. I verified before I purchased. It was a little cheaper from rockauto.

I got the slave in from rockauto.com. I found an easy way to get the nuts back on the slave studs. I took the socket and streched a latex glove over the socket, then pushed the nut into the socket. This gave enough friction to hold the nut in the socket. Took a 1x2 piece of wood, used that to push and hold the slave on the studs. Took the socket and hand tightened the nuts on the slave. Then torked down the nuts. Bled the system and got a good hard pedal. Took all of about 45 minutes.

Thanks, going to order a SC from Napa. The line going from the master to the slave is a steel line, not a flexable hose.

1996, LT-4, 383.
6 months ago, had the clutch master replaced. Last week, clutch started going to the floor and I had to pump up the clutch to get it home. I replaced the master, bled the system, bled the system and bled the system. Take it out for a drive and I get 2 miles down the road and the clutch peddle goes soft AGAIN. So my question is, replace the slave cylinder? This is frustrating. The slave was replaced a year ago.

I appreciate the info. Just a little p/o because I took it back to the builder, a well known corvette shop in DFW and he told me 400.00 to repair. I figured he would reapir it since I spent lots of money to rebuild the engine.

I just completed a J-55 swap to C-5, there is no comparison. The C-5 setup is the way to go. I got a set of C-5 rotors and brake pads from brake **** they had a sale. Good products and great stopping. Replace your rear pads and rotors also- they do make a difference.

1996 LT-4, 131000 miles on her. The brakes were in dire need to be fixed. During the last year, I started to pickup parts for the rebuild. SS brake lines, C-5 calipers, new rotors, rear brakes.
My experience has only been putting new pads on my Avalanche. So last week, I got the vette up on jack stands and removed the original equipment. Installed all the componets, bled the brakes and took it for a test drive. The stopping power was amazing. The new C-5 rotors and calipers worked great. Yesterday, I rebuilt the rear brakes since the RR brake was scraping loudly. The rears were a little tricky with the parking brakes. I rebuilt the calipers, new SS lines, pads, seals and bolts.
I read all I could about doing the rebuild and brake lines from this forum and it made it easy to do a complete brake up grade.
Things I learned. First, I had to reuse the banjo bolts, the ones sent with the SS lines were cheesey. Bleeding brakes is a snap and get a big breaker bar to remove bolts.
The rear brake pads lasted 131000. They were original.

Thanks!!

The clutch will start to re engage if I leave clutch in after about 10-15 seconds. I was just wondering which one since I have had so many in the car. I had a well known corvette shop in the DFW area install it. It was suppose to be a slave that was checked.
By the way, THANKS for the replys, some of the other forums don't answer.

1996 LT-4, had problems with the clutch slave cyl when I had the clutch replaced. Finally got a slave that didn't leak after the fourth one. I have diven car for 12k and now when I push in on the pedal, it leaks down a bit when I hold in the pedal. Shifting is no problem. Only when I hold it in. Question wether its the clutch master cyl or slave. The fluid is full in the master so I don't think its leaking.
