i can't believe how stable and stiff it is a ,very solid car, i had a lot of cars in between (20 years)

did chevy change the frame or just reinforced it? do those 2 frame rails run the length of the car?..

the Z51 cars got extra stiffeners, which became standard later on.

Of course I'm gathering the fully car car in your avatar is not yours.

Though I approve of the driver

For what its worth, my 85 is very tight.

Edit: Once I think about it, the rollbar probably helps that. I really don't remember what it was like before the rollbar.

My 4pt roll bar made a very significant change in chassis stiffness. You could feel it but you could also see it when you went to jack up the front of the car and the rear came up too!

My harness bar made a HUGE difference.

Can't wait to get a 6pt rollbar in it.

As Brian said, the 86 convertibles received considerable reinforcement (mostly internal the frame rails) and a bolt on X-brace. The Z51 and Z52 got the reinforcements starting in 87, but without the X-brace. The reinforcements MAY have become standard sometime later, but I've not confirmed that.

Yes, the frame rails go the full length.

then why is it i don't see them under the car?

that actually makes it better than mustangs with the unibodies cause the rails don't meet up in the center.

really our cars sit on an old school frame

Under the car?

They are not under the car.

It is called a perimeter frame. When you sit in your C4 they are beside you, not below you. It's the reason why the sill is so high. It's not so "old school", the body is completely bonded to the frame. And it's the same construction as used for the C5 and C6.
