I cleaned out part of the shop today and came across 2 12 oz cans of automotive R12. Is this something that I can sell or do I need some kind of license? How much is it worth??

Down here in S.D., it goes for about $20-$25 per can on craigslist w/o license. Nobody asks, although technically its required to have a license to sell it.

I still have the R12 system on my '85, and it needs recharging. It was serviced 7 years ago, and that's the last time I used it.
As I stated above, if you had the installation hose kit, I'd be happy to take it off your hands. No hose kit = another expense I don't need to invest in. Thanks for the offer, though. Someone will easily pay double my offer for the cans alone. |

I have about 7-8 cans of it I have purchased over the years; Mostly for nostalgia. I keep telling myself I will "restore" a vehicle someday, and it will be a nice novelty to have all the "original components" running on R12. In reality I've had about 4 R12 systems in my various vehicles since 2004... all of which I could have used the R12 on, but opted to retrofit to 134A Instead.
