I know for a while there had been a run of bad ZF6 slave cylinders from seemingly every source. Hopefully that is no longer the case.

Where should I go (dealership, online, etc) to buy a ZF6 slave?

Thanks!
Dan

I thought there was a shortage for awhile where the warehouses were empty, and one of them was discontinued. Not sure if this was in response to the defective manufacture or not.

Either way I'd pull your new one apart and check and report back to us.

If you need tips on flipping the seal, let me know. In fact I'll start another post on it for everyone to see.

Thanks! I'll try to take some pics of my current slave for visual comparison to the new one.

Sorry - one more question:

What is the difference between the '89 - '90 slave cylinder vs the '91 - '96?

Thanks!

I searched for pics, but couldn't come up with any that showed the difference in locations . At MAM, they showed the same pic for both slaves .

Do you know what the differences are? IIRC, the slave I am currently using has a 12:00 inlet position and a 6:00 (or slightly offset) bleeder position (which I thought was dumb since air rises, but I use the Phoenix tool to bleed, so it didn't matter to me).

Thanks!
Dan

Doesn't matter the 89-90 slave is discontinued and the only option is the 91-96

Thanks for the info. That explains why the pics on MAM are the same .

Does anyone make a rebuild kit for these units? Last I heard, there wasn't one.

got mine from "thepartsladi" on ebay. Price was right, and it was properly assembled, though I strongly suggest pulling it apart anyway just to clean it- mine had lots of debris in it.

That's a shame. All you need is the seal and a wheel cylinder hone in most cases..
