will my top speed be limited to what i can do in 3rd -- 132mph, or will it go faster if i shift into 4th (overdrive)-- 188mph? 132mph is plenty fast, just curious about what will happen when i change gear ratios.

IIRC, top speed was attained on OD. It's not so steep that the engine can't pull.
For reference, the ZF6 equipped cars got top speed in 5th. Oh, 188 is at best theoretical. I am betting on more like 145 or so, aero drag is a real bitch, yo. |

Yes top is done in OD.
ZF6 and T56 are done in 5th and the T6060(ZR1 trans) is 6th due to closer ratio. Top speed in OD is VERY hard on parts tho |

Need to clarify, the T6060 is used in the NEW ZR1... the 4th gen ZR1 used the ZF6, indentical in all respects to the LT1/L98 ZF6 except for the input shaft. IIRC, it was a bit longer on the ZR1...
The 700R4 OD is .64:1, IIRC... In the ZF6, 5th is .76:1 and 6th is .51:1!! The T56 was nearly the same and the standard T6060 is nearly the same. The T6060 used in the ZR1 and Z06 are close ratio, and I don't know their specs off hand. |

Sorry I did mean the C6ZR1 when talking about the TR6060.
700r4 OD is .70 200r4 OD is .68 IIRC T56 (MN6) 6th is .50 5th is .74 T56 (M28 or M29) 6th is .62 5th is .80 C5zo6 & GTO received these gears TR6060 6th is .57 5th is .84 |

Depends on your rear end ratio, and where your motor makes peak HP.
Mine topped out in OD with the 4+3, 3.07 combo. 3rd gear is rpm-limited, the stock motor at least can't make power at that high an rpm. Stock will do at least 148mph, but you've got more power than that. My guess is you won't really care, it's not something you do more than a few times in your life, hopefully. Now with the 6-speed and 3.45, I actually lost some top speed, because there's a huge gap between 5th and 6th, and 5th is too short, 6th is too tall, neither see the right RPM to get the motor's peak HP. |
