I have the opportunity to get a brand new B & M Holeshot 2400 Converter for about 1/2 price. So 2 questions:
1. Is it a good unit, and
2. Is it a good idea?

IIRC that is an 11" converter and its pretty heavy. I'm sure Pete would tell you to go with the lighter 9" converter, but I don't know too much about the B&M. It might be no better than the one you got in the car now. Also you need to find out if its a lock-up converter or not as your 95 uses a lock-up converter.

You can check for local companies, too. My converter is from a place a half an hour from my house and my trans builder gave me his cost on it, about $200.

Thanks for the replies Don and Matt. I think I will wait for PeteK to chime in.

ps - it is a lock up convertor, not sure if it is 11" or not.

i had a dayco 2300 stall in my 94 trans am. it worked fine but 2300 wasn't ideal for the mods i did after and went to a 4000 stall 9.5 inch. when it was a stock lt1 with headers the dayco made the car much more fun to drive.

Depends on who you ask. I have not been lucky w/B&M, but others have.
1/2 price makes it attractive.

Hope it works out. I bought it for $200 today. He also has a highly modified LT4 that he offered to sell me for only $9500. I told him when I hit the lottery I would give him a call.

Lay the converter on the bench, with the snout facing up. Stick a pair of snap ring, or lock ring pliers in the inner splines, and grab the stator tight. Pull it up and down, and note the movement. If it exceeds .020, don't install it.
