but a powerglide????

If they had done a manual 3spd, the engine would have been ok for the era.

He sure does wax poetic, eh?

Oh, one final thought, have you ever seen an unrestored early C1? The body work is tragic!

Very neat video! A real snapshot of who we were c1953. The innocence is just adorable!

I just got notice that the low serial no. 53 from the Heritage Collection has mechanical issues and won't be coming to the show... but they are sending a one off, 1972 XP-895 All Aluminum body concept car in its stead.

I should have a another '53 and a '54 but I they have both been restored. Our show is going to be pretty good this weekend. I hope my people get some good photos. I certainly won't have time!!!

Makes me want to put on a shirt and tie, throw on a tweed sportcoat, break out a Benny Goodman CD and go for a ride. Maybe I should put on a pair of pants while I'm at it.

I've seen that a few times before, but always good to reminisce. I remember watching Dave Garroway on the Today Show when I was little. And how I used to stare at those early Corvettes whenever I'd see one. I recall once when I was about 6, we were at some friends' house for a BBQ, and their next-door neighbor had a Corvette, a bronze one, probably a '56 or '57. I was over there gawking at that thing like crazy, the closest I'd ever gotten to one.

From those humble beginnings to the ZR1.....The Corvette has pretty much moved forward decade by decade if you look back at each generation. I feel that the C4 was the beginning of a true overall handling performance car. The LT cars anyway.

I also can't believe they went with the powerglide instead of a 3 on the floor.

I agree with the C4's place. It was the maturation of the Corvette. The C3 changed, but the chassis was it's limiter; the C4 was a huge step forward... and the C4, as it matured, got significantly better.
