Good story. Thanks for posting it.

Maybe one day I'll get out there to cruise.

Absolutely amazing. Something about the place jogged my memory. Background, I grew up in the 16 mile area. Worked at several service stations off Telegraph while in high school and college and raced on Woodward. Late 70's early 80's.

A friend had told me that a mutual acquaintance owned Vinsetta garage...Jack Marwil. I worked with Jack at a service station in Bloomfield Hills early '80's. He drove Trans Ams and Grand Ams. Actually roomed with him in the summer for a couple of months.

Now I read that he has sold the garage to go to law school at Wayne State. I hope his dreams are successful. (his father was a doctor I think who always wanted his son to get a higher education if I remember) His wife passed away last year from what I read and they had the garage together.

Wow, what a memory jog!!

I had to do some searching for Vinsetta's and now understand why it didn't ring a bell. I ran Woodward during the late 60's when the big three were having HP Wars. Lots of fond memories for sure. But we stayed to north of 14. Most of the heavies stayed above Big Beaver. Grew up in Troy. Got drafted. Never returned. Maybe a "Dream Cruise" next year.

Matt your right and for those who need to know, Woodward was the first paved road in the nation. I guess you could call it the Mother of All Roads.

I think that is actually what it is called.

Did you go to high school in the area? I went to Groves, graduated with Bruce Campbell, now of "Burn Notice" fame...lots of famous people from that area.
