Where was the original factory lug nut lock key location? Question came up on another forum with no answers. Figured I might see if the Gurus are smarter.

I didn't even know they came with locking lug nuts. What years specifically? I know on the 88 (optional)- 89 (standard) wheels the center cap has a special coded key. So I look forward to hearing this.

That is the thing he is talking about.
The location should be inside the owners manual portfolio. |

Are you asking where it's stored, Steve?
The 92 owner's manual just states "Stored in the center console". It just lays in the bottom of mine. I wouldn't be supprised if all C4's are like that. I can ask about it on NCRS if needed. |

OK, so what is the locking portion on 90+? They eliminated the large lug nut cover with the 90 wheels, and went back to open view lugnuts. I must be confused as to the question. Matthew |

So, what else is new? The lugnuts have individual plastic covers that look like lugnuts, more GM humor. And one locking lug nut per wheel which gives you a 50/50 chance of finding the socket key still in the car when you buy a used C4. Who the hell would want to steal sawblades anyway??? |

This was on an '85. Apparently there is a clip on the actual lug wrench that holds it according to the other forum. If thats the case it prolly just ends up at the bottom of the compartment. I kinda figured it would be with the owners manual in the console. Mine resides there, usually at the very bottom under all the crap, lol.
Thanks for the responses fellers! |

The 84-87 has locking lug nuts. Similar to the ones you get for custom wheels. |

Let me look after work today. I have an 85 and I have the owner's manual. I'll take a pick when I find it and post up.

i just looked in my 93 40th annv pouch which has the tire gage and ink pin and owners manual. theres no loop to hold my wheel lock key. i keep it in the storage compartment behind the seat, i got it wrapped up to keep it from rolling around.

Here's where it stores on the jack handle. This is from an 85.
