I did RCs... and they are pretty quick. It's all about getting into a rhythm. If you watch the drivers, they start this little swaying thing... like willing the little car around the track.

I remember years ago trying to show a friend how to drive an RC oval car. This is a 1/10th NASCAR thing with solid axle rear and independant front. Battery powered. Good for a 4-5 minute race.

Resized Image

As you can see, the rear is a pod where the motor goes.

This chassis is actually set up for road course, but for oval, the batteries are all to the left side of the car (right in photo).

However... like any high strung race vehicle, when run slowly, becomes an absolute pig. And that is what happens! On the 23* banking, the car oversteers... is darty... but once you get up to speed, and hit you marks, it's easy. A rhythm gets going and before you know it, your ripping off 4.1 second laps all day long.

Nice, I used to have an RC10L, I have a bolink on road car still that I have a few different bodies for, a '70 Nova SS I just painted for it. I also have a few off road cars, Losi XXX-4 with a brushless setup, a RC10GT with a ton of mods with a '57 Chevy truck body (I bought the body when I used to have a real one), and a XX-T cr.

Slot cars, I had a long time ago, then got back into them recently for very short time, when I was trying to help motivate my nephew, who then moved out of state with his Father, so I sold all those.. Probably going to sell some of the R/C Collection soon, not all but some.. still like to mess with them from time to time.. but I need some more closet space...

Youngman still wants Saab, and they are willing to spend major coin if they don't get the GM tech that they have so nastily defended.

Youngman claims they will waive the GM tech, and release a post-GM design for a 9-3. If all goes to plan, they claim to be able to produce and release the 9-3 in China within 12 - 14 months, and while it is unclear if any country other than China will get them I think it's a very positive step.

What I like is that Youngman wants to preserve the essence of Saab, keeping it what it's fans already like. Not only that, there is STILL a large dealership network already set up here in the states so it's a no brainer if they want to market them here.

I wish Saab would still be Swedish or American, but as long as it doesn't come with a Honda or Toyota badge I'm HAPPY.

I just bought a brushless/lipo setup back in November... now all I need to do is recondition my TC3 and T2!

Oval is dead here in CA... so no real reason to go nuts here with that. Trucks and touring... mostly trucks.
