Looks pretty good! And don't feel bad, mine was crooked, too. I need to remove.. The wind caught it during install. Next time, a piece of tape for level. |

well, yea. I would love a 3' wide cutter. Mine is like 11" wide. So I feel rather inferior.
I am going to try my hand at cutting the GS slashes. I bought silver last year, and the damned things are TARNISHING! The silver pigment is garbage. So I am going to recut in white. That will still look ok against the dk green paint. I do need to figure out out how to get the old stripes off. I am thinking heat gun, but gently. |

To remove the vinyl, heat gun with a plastic razor blade. Once you get a corner up the hard work is done, just heat the vinyl as you pull back firmly. I've put on/taken off vinyl car graphics several times before.

Yea but be careful with the heat gun (I use a hair dryer since it doesn't get as hot). And peel the vinyl back over itself (not straight up) like you do with masking tape to reduce the possibility of pulling any paint off. Any adhesive left behind - WD or GooGone Citrus Gel. I do this all the time on the racecars. |

Here are the results.
I put the vert on first assuming that the smaller one would be easier. There is a light wind but I decided to do it anyway. The small one came out with some small air bubbles in the lettering. I pinned and pressed the letters into place. Still a few small bubbles but I'm gonna wait and see . I'll go back over it again later. I used my credit card to try and push some air out but had little success. I pin popped some of the bubbles and pressed the air out as best I could. The bigger lettering for the coupe went on much better. I pressed the lettering into place after application. Came out much better than he first one. So, here are the results. |

Looks good. The vinyl shops have applicators that they give you, a bit softer than a credit card. Did you use applicator fluid or soapy water? - helps to prevent the bubbles. |

I don't think the soapy stuff is recommended for this vinyl.
If you peal and lay one letter at a time, it shouldn't bubble. Looks great, Tommy! The size for the Vert is PERFECT! |

You should clean the window well before starting. Lay out the graphic while still under the protective sheet and backing still attached. Tape it in place at the midline of the graphic. Pull one side up and remove the backing to the tape, cut off the backing. Lay it down from the middle out using the squeegee and pressing it outwards. Once done with the first side, remove the tape, pull back the other side, and remove the backing. Repeat.
I would not recommend doing it one letter at a time. If you use a soap solution, it's only one drop of soap in an entire spray bottle of water. Shake it up and get the surface wet. This might cause the paper backing to tear or stick, though, so beware. You can get those squeegees at HF in the car care section, they are basically bondo applicators. I have a few in the toolbox that I've used for vinyl applications. Here is a good video: http://www.decalfx.com/Video_Applying_Medium_Size_Decals.html Matthew |

And as far as bubbles, use a very sharp xacto knife to put a tiny pin head size cut in it and press the air out.
I also use a heavy duty paper towel or rag over the squeegee to avoid scratching or damaging the vinyl. |

That's possible I guess but, I always use either the commercial stuff or homemade. Never had a problem. This environmentally friendly product is great for installing decals and vinyl graphics. Granted, not all applications call for a "wet" procedure, but we do know that in most applications, forty to sixty percent labor time can be saved by using an application fluid. Sometimes one person can do a job (normally requiring two people to apply dry) in less time if an application fluid like Rapid Tac or new Rapid Tac II is used. (Rapid Tac II bonds faster than Rapid Tac, and is intended for films with a lower tac adhesive than premium vinyl.) Application fluid cleans without leaving residues. It then helps to "float" the vinyl until it is properly positioned. Best of all Rapid Tac and Rapid Tac II stimulates the adhesive to bond in approximately ninety seconds, even in adverse climates such as extreme hot or cold. It will not cause bubbles so there's no returning to poke holes in your work either. Your customers and your reputation will benefit from higher-quality applications. I thought about the soapy water but decided against it. I didn't want it to slide. The first one I went from top to bottom. That was my mistake. The second one I put it in place and worked both sides to the middle. Again, no soapy water. The second one came out great. The first one, eh! It's like a mistake when painting a room. You notice it when you do it and maybe for a couple of days after. Then you just fuggetaboutit. Now I wonder how I'm gonna get it off the vert window. I believe the back window is hard plastic. No razor blade use there. I'll worry about that when the time comes. Maybe it'll just bake itself off over time. |
