Er, at least that's what the Chief PDX Driving Instructor said about this session.

I took one of my Tech guys out on this run, I've been the instructor in his car and he's been out with me before.

We pulled into pre-grid beside Scott in his modded Miata, I told my guy that I was going to "F" with Scott on the track, drive very close, show him what it was like in a race vs just running laps, etc. and asked him if that would bother him. Gary said, Hell no, go for it.

Note that out of 80+ cars at the event and 18 instructors, there's only 2 other guys on the track thet I'd do this with besides Scott, I trust him, he knows what he's doing.

This was an "Instructors Session" so, all the cars on the track had instructors driving.

I slowed down a few times so that Scott could get by the traffic and we could play.

I was running maybe 90%, shifting at 4,500.

The red car was Scotts modified Miata more horse and suspension - performance shocks, springs, camber kit along with big brakes.

Yea, that was me.

"I am sure my GS would blow you guys all in the weeds." , you did notice the C5 and C6 holding me up didn't you?

Why was the C6 so slow? It looked like he spanked him on every corner. And you smoked him on the straightaway?

And why were you putting your arm out the window around six minutes? Flipping him the bird

No idea why he was running those speeds, maybe that was max for him in the corners.
He knew I was going to pass and probably didn't hammer it. Plus I had way more corner exit speed (probably the most important thing for lap times).

My hand was out the window to signal Scott to pass me (which he didn't have enough speed to do at that time). In a HPDE, all passing is by point by.

I wanted Scott in front of me so I could climb his bumper to show my passenger what wheel to wheel is like. The vid doesn't show me 4 inches off of Scott's rear end in some corners.

This is not what we normally do with students, we were goofing on each other (with the students permission).
Normally we would be driving a bit slower talking to the students aboyt correct lines, braking points, early/lat apexes, etc.

The car is freekin' horrible in the corners.

Well, not extremely horrible but, Summit Racing was out of stock on Bilsteins so I had no choice but to get KYB's which are fine.....on a highway @65. And the Hankook's have a pretty soft, flexible side wall so you have to manhandle the car a bit.
The car floats all over the place but you cure it by standing on the gas harder.

Plus all the bushings have 95k miles on them.

And the brake fluid probably has 70k on it. So when the guys say "You just have to change brake fluid to do a track day", I laugh a bit.

A couple of other things - turns 3 & 4 (the turns just after the front straight and the "S's" , notice the big stripe of oil dry. A 240Z grenaded his engine there in the morning so there was oil and oil dry in that corner, slippery, slippery.

And, just as a reference, the sharp right hand corner going on to the front straight (at 2:55 in the vid), Scott is taking that corner at 70 MPH.
My Formula Ford rund thru that corner at 100.

Sooo what you are saying is that it is loose as a goose....
I thought it might have some kind of anti frame flex stuff on it....Have you driven a Z06 on that track...?

My 92 is bouncy but I can still push it. It's a grocery getter not really a track car.

A Z ? Yea, C5's both stock and prepped - coilovers, slicks, cage, Sparcos, etc. There's no compairson to a C4, they're just much better.

C6, yea Drove a GS, but didn't push it cause the owner was a newbee and very nervous.

Cool vid. Looks exciting. Just wondering, how wide is the road and it looks like some dips and humps the way the suspensions are moving or is that just the speed?

3 car+ wide though you'll NEVER see 3 wide in a HPDE.

Yea, this track is bumpy/dippy in places. The track doesn't have a big income like the ones I usually race on, Laguna Seca, etc.

Plus the suspension on a stock C4 moves quite a bit at soeed.
