Changing things in the gearbox happens all the time at the track. It takes a bit longer in a Corvette than an open wheel, you can change trans gear ratios in an open wheel in 45 minutes.
If that was at Barber last weekend, that changed gears because of the new track surface. Speed in the corners was way up so last year's gear ratio for say, 3rd gear could be off the torque curve in certain corners when you're turning 5-700 more RPMs. |
