My 87 will not crank, get no click on the starter, I have 12 volts to the starter. bypassed the security relay in the dash, still no crank

volts are only part of the equation...
Have you had the battery tested? The starter? Check the leads at both ends, heavy corrosion will cause current loss, making it harder to start. Age plays a major factor here... Also, make sure the nuts/bolts are all tight. |

Put the volt meter on the small wire (stud) on the starter solenoid and have someone turn the key to "start".
Got 12v there? |

If it passed bills test then yes you probably have a bad battery or bad cable/connection. A bad connection can pass voltage but not enough current.
