i'm tracking down a no-idle condition on my 91. suspect the IAC and popped the hood 5 minutes ago.

I've come to the realization that i want/need to delete my AIR injection system for the following reasons:

1: the lifetime smog pump from the parts store loses the bearing at least once a year, and while free to replace, is a PITA since i'd rather be driving than working on the car.

2: i was looking to take out the IAC and this big AIR injection deal is right in the way of getting a socket on it, and it's just plain ugly.

3: hoses on said black deal in IAC's way are a tad beat

4: reaching down tracing one of them that heads down under the manifold, it's broken off.

5: i'm willing to bet i can pass e-check without it since we do not do visual and i pass with every other GM small block EFI that i remove it from.

so who makes a delete pulley for the pump itself, what size caps and plugs will i need for things, and where are the fittings located that need removed? i'm sure i'll find those easily while just tracing lines/hoses but i'd like to have the proper size caps and or plugs before starting the job and so i do not have to guess.

thanks!

I installed mine 2 seasons ago in my 91. I think it was a Breathless but don't remeber for sure. I also think I bought it on Ebay. If I remeber right it was eithre $152.00 or $150.00 both I feel is 2 expensive for what it is. i would do it again thou, because it made it so much easier to get to everything with all that A.I.R stuff gone. it was a breeze to install also.

Heres a few pic's and Good-luck wiht your search ,

I bought headers without the AIR fittings, so I didn't have to get caps or anything. My AIR pump eliminator pulley is from breathless performance. I bought it used off www.corvetteforum.com for about $75.

I've never been able to find the right size plugs for the AIR bungs in the past. I always end up cutting the AIR pipe and to get the stock fitting off it. Then tapping that fitting for 3/8 pipe thread and installing a 3/8 pipe plug. I use the gaskets on the back of the intake for patterns and make block off plates out of 1/8 inch thick flat bar from the hardware store. It's pretty easy to make the plates if you have an angle grinder/whizz wheel.

There really isn't much to it. Let me know when you do it and I'll send you a chip with all the emissions stuff removed.
