My antenna motor fell out while backing up to leave for lunch. I had plans to pickup an antenna mast repair kit to replace the broke antenna...don't need it now. I was backing up and felt the thump as I rolled over something . There just happened to be a truck driver walking by and told me my motor just fell out, ripped out the wiring as well. He found it rather funny, I was torn between embarrassment and anger. With my FSM and the info on guru I will be ok. Luckily I usually listen to cd's. But it is almost 70 F out, the tops off, and it's all good.

I did the same, bottomed out on a bad road and it snapped the upper plastic nut off and fell out. It was at least hanging by the ground strap.

What year? I had such a hard time finding an exact replacement when the gears finally stripped out that I resorted to cannibalizing part of the old one to make it work.

1992. I called Corvette Central but their computers are down and they couldn't help. I'll try again tomorrow morning, I was planning on a trip there tomorrow for shocks (Hmmm...bounce bounce). Hopefully it will be fixed. They didn't use the same one for all vette's?

I got so tired of mine about two and a half years ago shaved the antenna hole. Connected it to a small straight antenna under the carpet.

How's the reception? I was considering that too

I went to best buy and bought a new universal power antenna. Then i spliced in the antenna wire but never hooked up the power leads. It works great and is fabricated so it doesn't bounce around. I think it was $60. Buying OEM seems too spendy to me.

Works a little bit better actually since you don't pick up inteference from the antenna moving the small amount it does in the wind. At one point i just made the cable function as the antenna by bending the inner part of the plug to touch the outer and even that worked well too.
