...we've been on the road for two and a half days now, starting from outside of Philadelphia, spending the first night in Front Royal, VA and the next night in Canal Winchester, OH (a half mile from McDorman Chevrolet). Tonight, we're in Georgetown, KY.
We're part of the Eastern portion of the road tour (there are ten separate tours). My 1985 is the only C4 in our small group right now, though we expect to pick up at least two more in Paducah, KY tomorrow evening. We're traveling with the "slow/old" group - three solid axles and two mid-years. The faster group started with three C5s and a C6 and added a C6 Z06 this morning. We're joining one of the other tours tomorrow morning and that will add a bunch more Corvettes. So far, I haven't had any unexpected problems with the 1985, despite the fact that we've put almost 800 miles on it - more than any other single trip we've yet taken. We've had to fix some loose plug wires on a solid axle, some leaking fuel lines on a mid-year, and solve a strange tire wear problem on a C5 - but everybody is still moving. |

You guys will all be in Rolla, MO on Saturday, right?
Sounds like your having a good time, and the weather in Missouri looks like it will be perfect for you. I think I read that the group will be leaving Rolla on Sunday morning and heading north on US63? Where will you be meeting? Would be cool to come out and take a look at some nice cars. |

Greg, We will be in Rolla on Saturday night. We're staying west of town - I'll get you the specific motels as soon as possible. The best time to see all the cars (if you can stand being up) will probably be around 7:45 AM Sunday morning - we roll out at 8:00 AM every morning and the tour leader does not like if we are late! |

j3studio | Update: On The Road With The NCRS National Road Tour... | ||

Aside from the issue with the fuel pump priming yesterday, we have been fine. It has been hot - our still strong GM air conditioning has been fighting hard to keep all that heat from coming through the Plexiglas top. I don't know how the folks with no air conditioning do it...
We now have over 30 Corvettes participating on the tour and at least three more C4s (including a 99% 1986 coupe) have joined the chase. We've got about an even split of old (C4 and below) and new (C5 and above) cars. We were in Paducah, KY last night. We're in Branson, MO tonight, doing touristy things. Tomorrow we head up to Rolla, MO in the afternoon. By the way, RollaMo-LT4, at this point our assembly point on Sunday morning will be the Baymont Inn & Suites and we'll be heading out around 8:00 AM. |

Thanks for the update!
I am glad it's you in Branson and not me. I try to avoid all that crap as much as possible. Although my mom still lives down in that area, so we do go down a few times a month. Branson traffic can be a killer on your cooling system. I will be sure and swing by the Baymont Sunday morning to see you guys off. Would be nice to meet you. Greg |

Well, lots of Corvettes in Rolla, Mo tonight. Drove out and found j3studio just getting out of his C4. Stopped and introduced myself and we chatted for awhile.
One of the local Corvette guys put on a big bar-b-que for the NCRS group, which I am sure they all enjoyed. The weather is pretty nice tonight, even though it was a little warm today. We were on the Harley when we pulled into the hotel parking lot, so I didn't get to show off my LT4 to John. We'll go out in the morning a few miles north of town, and find a nice spot to take a few pics as the go by on their way to St. Charles. It was great chatting with you John, and you have a beautiful example of a fine C4. Here's to a safe trip the rest of the way. |

John and Evie are great people! Real gems in this world.
We met about 3 years ago when they did a big x-country trip. Hopefully, we will be able to get together when we come home for Christmas. |

Glad to hear you made it back home. I bet it feels much better to not be living out of a suitcase. I was wondering how everything went in St. Charles.
Will be waiting for some of your pictures. |

With bonus points, we scored a 270 out of 260 - a perfect score (the cigarette lighter decided to work for the only time this year)! We received our Founders Award on Monday evening from Gary Mortimer, one of the original seven folks who started the NCRS. |

[Cross-posted from C4 Factory Restoration, since I promised pictures in this thread]
One hundred pictures, mostly from the Eastern portion of the NCRS National Road Tour from Front Royal, VA to St. Charles, MO, but some from the convention itself: http://gallery.me.com/j3studio#100061 - probably best viewed as a slideshow. |
