and bought me two flowmaster super 44 series. I can't deal with the loudness. I went to a muffler shop today and for 260 I can get bullet mufflers and installation for 260. Did I make the right choice? Anyone heard of bullet mufflers?

Appreciated...

So...

You bought the Flowmasters, and before they are installed you are asking about Bullet mufflers?

Or did you get the Flowmasters installed, and they are too loud?

I do not understand your question.

Flowmaster literature says "If you really want to hear your exhaust system inside as well as outside of your vehicle, these Super 44 Flowmaster mufflers are for you." If those were too loud, you're really going to hate the bullet mufflers.
Loudmouth bullet mufflers literature advertises "Due to the limited sound control that these mufflers offer, they are recommended for race use only!"

I disagree. Those flowmaster 40 series (if thats what you bought) can be louder than open pipe in the useful rpm range, from inside the car at least.

This is because they create more resonance at certain rpms (as opposed to a quiet muffler which cancels out some resonance).

Bullet mufflers, if they're what I'm thinking of, are just a perforated pipe with fiberglass on the outside. Not far off from a straight pipe. I'm running a single high flow cat and straight pipes after that and that car isn't unreasonably loud. I used to have some monza (glasspack) mufflers, and they were a bit quieter than this.

cherry bombs... how 1979.

If I was you, I would save my money (ie, no laser scramblers, police scanners, LED light conversions, or undercar neons) and get a real exhaust system.

Returned flowmasters. Going to get American thunders. I got all new piping. Thats good enough for now. Headers=1400 for installation. YIKES! I want something loud and toned but not blow my ear drums out like now. Sounds kind of trashy loud. Ha...Guess I have matured some more since I did it.

I have the Flowmaster 50's, and they are not too load at all. With the cats installed, they are just a little loader then my stock exhaust.

To be serious, resonance (not loudness) is the eternal C4 exhaust issue.
