Any vendors available? I'd like to rebuild starter and alternator. 1996 C-4 LT-1 130,000 Mi.

I am sure there is a local.

The LT1 starters are made by Denso, IIRC. They really are very good parts. The only part that wears out is a contact inside. I don't remember the details off hand.

The last starter I had rebuilt was $125. The rebuilder said that alternators were about the same price.
I just bought an alternator at NAPA for $137 with a lifetime warranty.

For $80 why would you waste your time rebuilding?

Yeah I found the contact parts and brush assembly, I'm rebuilding it myself as part of my hobby. I enjoy keeping it on the road and get a Hard-on when everything works! I've heard of alternator and waterpump rebuild kits too.

Most of the time all is needed is a set of brushes or a solenoid. If the armature needs turning you might as well buy a quality rebuilt. Later! Frank
