I noticed a feature in the Camry that I'd like to have in the Corvette. The Camry's rear view mirror employs that electronic auto-dim so it darkens with a blue-green hue when a car is behind with it's brights on.

My rear view mirror is ok, but it's a little loose. Hard bumps require me to readjust it. Does anyone sell a C4 mirror with electrochromic darkening? I'd hate to lose the lights in the bottom of the mirror, they really are handy, so I'd want a C4 specific mirror.

Just a thought.

That's the idea.
But, on the C4, the mirror has lights on the bottom. One shines on the console at night, and the other is a map light.

Good find. It says it has map lights.
I'll have to email and ask them if it would work in a C4.

Hmm. Most car mirrors now mount to the windshield and are therefore pretty universal. You could get fancy and find one with a temperature display on it and mount a sensor for it.

My new truck had an autodim mirror, but its sad that people are too lazy to reach up and flip the lever on the mirror to do the same.

Heck, I'd be happy with just a maplight. I think that started in 87ish, and was also used on some S-10s. I'll check that out on my next trip to the junkyard.

I sent an email to the company, they replied:

"Unfortunately we no longer carry the mirror with the prindle feature for the shifter. The 50-GENK30 mirror has a map light features and dome light features but, no prindle feature."

Who knew it was called a "prindle feature"?

They also told me that it would require running a new harness. Not worth it, but I still think that autodim is very cool.

It's a Corvette, drop the hammer and watch the lights in the mirror fade away.
