Tried getting the old mower going one last time in order to mow the leafs.

Could get it to keep running. Putting some gas down the carb go it to run for about 15seconds then it up an dies. Got some new gas, drained the old stuff out, same thing. So I'm thinking the carb needs rebuilding. I head down for a rebuild kit and the store's telling me that thanks to the alcohol in the gas it only stays good for 2 weeks now unless you throw some stabilizer in it, and that the carb is probably all gummed up.

15 years with the same mower, never had to before, I guess I will now though.

Needless to say I though some stabilizer in the Corvette's tank this morning.

We've had the alcohol mix (winter blend) for 10+ years. I just fired up my generator yesterday, 3 pulls on the cord. The gas in it is the winter blend from last year, it's 11 months old.
I don't buy the 2 week thing.

My boat carbs hate old gas. My boat mechanic tells me he makes a ton of extra loot now because of gas seperation as well as the guy who does tank pump outs and water seperation from the fuel. You just can't let em sit like you used to. Best to run them out or fill em up and put stabilizer. I think it's more like 8 weeks though.

I, for some reason, ain't buying it.

With all the detergents they add these days, I have issue with it being that unstable.

Toss in the reality that most lawn mowers aer using engines with 5:1 compression, they should pretty much start on a drunks piss.
