I can't speak for C4s specifically but I might be able to add a bit of input that might help make the decision.

I have a 1977 C3. A C4 seat swap is a very common upgrade for C3 owners. The tracks are a bit different but the seats 'fit in the car. So, changing the tracks on the C4 seats to C3 tracks is really all it takes to swap seat.

Likewise, a C5 seat swap into a C3 is very popular. Again I think the hardest part of the swap is the seat tracks.

Using this as logic, that C5 and C4 seats can be put in C3s, I would 'assume' that barring a little seat track fabrication, it wouldn't be too hard to get C5 seats in a C4.

The base C5 seats have a hole in them which can be used for a harness, which is cool, the Z06 seats do not.

According to the exspurts on CF the C5 seats are 2" too wide to fit in a C4.

weather that is true or not is irrelevant to me.

What is relevant is this: the Z06 seat SUCKS.

Not that it matters, but C5 Seats fit very well into C3's.

You should look into the C6 seats. I don't know if they are any bigger or smaller, but they feel a heck of a lot tighter than c5 seats so... it might be worth a gander.

I could measure mine if you would like.

Actually, the ZO6 seats are just base seats with embroidery. The Sport Seats are the ones with the slot for the harness. Either way, C4 seats are way better in comfort and grip.
