Does anyone have a technical How To write-up about replacing the rear wheel bearing hub assembly? OR, can you point me in the right direction? Any help will be appreciated.

My preferred method is to completely remove the knuckle and do the work on the bench.
Just need tome big wrenches and big sockets. It's a simple task. |

How do you hold while you crack that 160 ft/lb rusted on hub nut off ? Took 6ft of water pipe on a breaker bar with the car on ground to get mine loose |

yea, but that is part of the "take the knuckle off" step.
Also, there has been an update. The big bolt is recommended to be torqued at 200 ft/lb. You will need to get 2 T55 torx sockets... I recommend 2 because the bolts that retain the bearing are a bitch and might break the sockets. With torx sockets you MUST be square on them. I did mine on the car. It wasn't bad, but I can see the advantage of doing it on a bench. I would also recommend a few other fixes: 1. rear ujoints 2. rear spring bolts. depending on mileage, these could be in really bad shape. 3. shocks |

I might try pulling the knuckle next time. it's a huge pain to get the torx driver onto those bolts with the halfshaft in place.

Helps if you put a screwdriver in the vane of the rotor to help lock the axle in place. That is if you have vanes in your rotor. |

I use the parking brake and put it in gear. Also if you're careful you can get the cotter pin loose while the wheels are on... then crack the nut loose before jacking it up.

That is what I did on the 1st one but still needed the pipe ext as noted. Now I drive to a local garage and use a rattle gun to crack it loose |
