Mine arrived over the weekend in good condition. However it did look like it had been handled roughly in its journy too me.

The outside of the box was a little banged up but the contents were in excellent condition.

Thanks!!!!!!

I got my bearings yesterday.

One bearing has no play and the other has .015" play.

I would like to disassemble and reassemble them. Was the broken bearing cage in your photos unavoidable? I assume that during disassembly the outer seal broke the cage? Where was that large snap ring and what does it do? Will the manufacturer sell spare parts?

I'm thinking that if you disassemble the bearing, you can make a test setup like the mid 60's rear wheel bearings and measure the play and put in shims to space the bearings before doing the permanent installation.

Some people may get the idea that I wanted to disassemble the bearing to get rid of the play. That can be done without disassembly. I'm wondering if that won't even happen when you torque down the spindle. I do wonder also if some play is not a good thing. The reason I want to disassemble has nothing to do with play or the bearings. Maybe I should have asked if I could purchase the bearing not fully assembled or if they could vary the design for one customer. I have 5/16" spacers for my wheels and was considering taking the bearing apart and seeing if a machine shop could extend the part that goes into the wheel so the studs don't have to support all of the load. I don't really know if that is a concern because fricition between the wheel and spacer may provide support.

Thats a question for the guys at WBI www.wheelbearingsinc.com

If you want to cover postage and one dollar, ($10 MO to my mailing address) I'll gladly send you the parts for the disassembled bearing.

How about an update on this , please. I am interested in buying a set

It reminds me of an experience I had with front wheel bearings and half shafts. The torque of the half shaft nut gave the proper bearing preload . I had bought 2 and thought one was bad due to play. Went back to the parts store and most had play. Installed the bearing and have put over 25K on them in my suv

Thanks
Kevin

Shipping weight is 25 lbs. I ship via USPS Priority flat rate to the US. I did ship one set to Canada that cost approx $25 USD.

I'm OK with shipping out of country. It can be expensive. So to be fair to both of us, if you or any other C4Guru member that wants a set, you need to research the shipping costs ahead of time.

I can suggest using;
www.usps.com
www.ups.com
www.fedex.com

Calculate the rate based on
25 lbs 11"x 8 1/2"x 5 1/2"
11.36kg 28cm x 21.6cm x 14cm
From Sonora, CA 95370 to your location
Any documentation required needs to be emailed to me in advance.

Also, PayPal strips off 2.9% + $0.30 USD for each transaction.
Consequently using PayPal will increase the price by $8.00 USD

Thats all I can think of for now. I'll be starting another RWB GP link soon.

regards and Merry Christmas!
Steve

I checked again and measured .015" play. I must have been pulling up on the bearing unevenly the first time. It will be some time before I install these bearings. If I take them apart to do modifications, the play that they have now really doesn't make any difference because it will be different when reassembled. I may try asking the manufacturer how much play is ideal. If the torque on the spindle nut is enough to pull in the bearings, the play before installation won't make a difference. If that is the case, the amount of torque used will be important. I seem to recall that the manual transmission cars need more torque when using stock bearings. I'm not sure if that will apply to these bearings.

I have already been in touch with JrRifleCoach but thought that
I should post here that my bearings arrived in Canada on 11/29
while I was out of town.

The parts were well packed and USPS/CanPost were careful in
their handling of the parcel.

JRC, you have done a great job. I'm very pleased.

Did I see elsewhere that there is some prospect of front bearings becoming
available for C4's in the not-to-distant future?

If so, sign me up now for a GP when one becomes possible.
